Hi, I am a basic user and am thinking about purchasing the pro version as it says it has turbo charged download speeds. But now my question is, how does that work as the download speed is restricted by the person where I download from.

Connecting to 5 instead of 3 peers helps your searches. Better searches means more reliable downloads. Also more consistent connection quality. Pro's abilities are best found when searching for rarer material.

The improvements are subtle, not dramatic. Many people think of Pro as more of a donation to help with the continuation of the development of the program. If you want to get pro because you think there will be dramatic improvements, then you are wrong.

I'm not at all trying to stir up a hornet's nest, but I was just ready to buy pro and had the same question. Came here to see if I could find a answer. It sounds a bit like false advertising to me though. TURBO downloading? Isn't that everyone's dream and one of the reason's, one would choose such a option. Also is this a yearly payment? One time fee EVERY year?

yes. They used to offer a discount during the last month of the term, but I am not sure if they still do. But try LW Basic first just to be sure it runs ok on your set up. If it's running ok & you're happy with it & you have some experience, then consider getting pro.

Downloads are only as good as the people who are uploading can offer in regards to speed etc. Pro's best attributes are that is can find more of the rarer files. For common files you won't notice any difference in searches. For downloads, you can download from a couple more people per file compared to basic which can help speed up downloads. Try before you buy, & get to know the program first.

Hey thanks for the reply. Hanging head here but....I was in one of those scams,well two of those scams. bout 18 months ago, I bought into that 360 share. But took a life membership. Then somethoing happened to the damn site. I guess after enough complaints the old members were told toog into the new site and to enter their email address as their password and a new password would be sent with a new download link. So I did it all and the download now bought up 360 share PRO, lol. Don't ask me what the heck that is. THEN, I just, this past Sunday took out that Butterfly network. OK hoot me. But after seeing that limewire was involved,went to that site, I said, damn, been had again. Went ack to the butterfly site the same day I joined, notified them to cancel. Yesterday I received a email back from them telling me how to download movies. huh. I emailed them back a ...welll. certain letter, that today bought me quick results and a response that got me a refund. sneerking here. But now here's the weird thing. When I got myself into that butterfly network, instead I decided to go use 360 share to go download some music. When 360 share pro came up, it said limewire up in the corner. I said wtf? Soooooo 360 uses limewire too?? And the 360 share pro,which was the new link they gave me,was that the limewire pro link they gave me. so how the heck am I suppose to know f I have the basic limewire or the limewire pro. Am I making any sense here or do you advise I grab another cup of coffee.? BTW, I've had no problems using 360 for music downloads. Just got into this crap because I wanted to start downloading movies. A friend of mine said he downloads movies in about 35 to 40 minutes, say what? Takes me about 1 1/2 hours. So, guess I'm looking for that miracle site ya know.

360 share is a copy of LW. They use the same code but have made some changes. I believe it's based on an earlier version of LW. So that's probably why you see the LW emblem. They were too lazy to remove it I don't know. lol But we consider 360 share as a scam site. After all, they take LW's code, add or subtract a few things (from an earlier version) & then call it their own & make money out of it.

The newer versions of LW Pro actually say on the side of the program, LW Pro. And if you go to the Help menu, choose About ... it will also say whether it's pro or not.

I tried PRO and lost it in an update but I wouldn't buy it again the changes are not dramatic really not even noticable your not missing anything I won't waste another $24.00 plus it only last for 6 months of technical support/updates which I got mine in 6/2006 and never seen an update until now 9/2007 when I updated and lost my PRO becasue after six months you don't exist in there system anymore so you can keep what you have but if you update you start over more or less, hope that helps with your decision I got this info from other pwople on this site so other people agree
