Question Firewall Issues

I am trying to use gnucleus on an on-campus housing network. Of course this means i'm behind a firewall, and though i've tried manipulating firewall and port settings in gnucleus and looking all over the internet for *beginner* instructions on how to get around this firewall, i am still having trouble connecting.

can someone please list, step-by-step what i am supposed to change? i am unsure about whether i'm changing port settings correctly or not and i cannot deal with kazaa ever again.

thanks
