Understanding the code

First of all I want to say that 0.85 is very, very good ... congratulations. I am a long time C progerammer, 15 years or so and have no GTK or socket experience. I would like to look at some code to see what's going on, version 0.12 obviously has the least code but I notice many changes and additions to 0.85 which works better and to be honest looks like better code. Which version should I look at to try and figure out what's going on ... not really interested in the GUI code and not yet ready for download/upload. Just PING/PONG and the basic connectivity ..

TIA Arnold
