 What kind of Windows Version do you have? On XP and 2K you should be able to open a command window and type: start http://phex.org This should then open a browser. Also a browser should open if you do START - Run... and type in the window: http://phex.org This is basically almost the same Phex is doing when you click on these buttons. If no browser opens you might have a problem in the Windows Registry. I would try to reset a browser as the default browser, maybe this will fix it..??

| Gregor, thanx for your help. Phex is running now, Bitzi Ticket is working. I formated my HD, installed Win XP Pro with integrated SP2. I'm testing Phex right now. I'll be back with more question. Thanx again, I like it here. |

| I'm back with some questions. 1st:When entering search data on the left, I picked "Programs" option on the right. After clicking on Start Search "Programs" option changing to "Any Type". Why? I don't need Ice Cube mp3, when I'm searching for computer program. 2nd: Bitzi Ticket is "working", but no matter what I'm looking for or clicking on, it is always giving me just..."We are sorry......" result. It is not Bitzi error, I'm getting "real" results from Bearshare. 3rd: I do not like Bearshare because of theirs spyware in the program and fact that about 85% of any search result are virus infected files or total BS.What I like about Bearshare is SPEED between 1 to 2Mbps. Fastest speed using Phex was 13Kbps! That's useless. Am I doing something wrong? Thanx for any help. Last edited by umim : January 9th, 2007 at 02:24 PM. |

| - What bandwidth did you select? (go into options to have a look) - The filters only work after you started a search. To make the search more specific, just include the file-suffix in your search (that's what I do  )- Bitzi: Try searching for "anomatrix .avi", and check if one of the files gives you a valid bitzi-ticket. It might just be, that you were unlucky with the test-cases. PS: Please open a new thread, if yet more questions should arise. That makes it easier for other users to find relevant info.

| arne, thanx for reply. I'll open a new thread. I selected 100% FULL bandwith. I do not understand your what did you mean by ..."the filters work after you started a search". When I start my car, I know exactly where I'm going. Well it looks like Phax need to go back to drawing board. It is toooo bad, I tought I found replacement for that stupid Bearshare. |

| Criticism is healthy, if it is constructive. Means: How can we do it better? (And do it in a way which is actually doable... we don't have 20 hired programmers, and all our programmers work in their free time because it's fun to write code, so, if you have some ideas which need some more work, it would be nice if you had some ideas where to get additional developers from). And besides that: Phex can't simply go "back to the drawing board". It is in already active developement for years, and changing the basic layout of the app is quite some task. And if it interests you what's planned for the next few months, just have a look at the Development Roadmap.

| Hey arne, do not get me wrong. First: I LIKE PHEX, I have nothing but GREAT respect for your hard work. I wish I know how to do coding and all the other stuff. I can help you only with testing, ideas and telling you what I thing is wrong, what I thing need to be changed in "user" point of view. So, FILTERS is one of function, witch need to be changed, then SPEED. My download capacity is about 6Mbps, upload about 370Kbps. Downloading 650Mb file with speed of 15Kbps is nonsense, nobody will do it. So answering your question: "How can we do it better ?"....I'm not sure, but I know what to do it better. Now I'll go visit Development Roadmap. Again thanx for Phex. |

| I'm just doing a test which shows, that it is indeed possible to download one file from 50 (with 10 waiting) sources using less than 10% CPU (mean on athlonxp 64, ~2,44Ghz). I get 320 kB/s on it (that's what my connection can pull). That's with the setting: Maximum download connections: 99 Maximum connections per file: 66
