please, questions about my privacy on P2P.

i have few questions about P2P privacy and i hope someone in here can answer them

i want to know if it's possible for anyone on the internet to track my search results or even movement on P2P. like if i'm searching for filename.avi, i get few hundreds hits in my result but i'm not only receiving but i noticed that i'm sending data out of my computer on the P2P network.. am i sharing my search results with someone els on P2P network? can my ISP track what i'm doing? or see my search result? please tell me.

i don't share files and i don't want to share my bandwidth with anbody.. no files, no helping in search results, not helping ppl connect to the network, i just want to take care of my self and my problems are my own to deal with.
thank you
and have a nice day

Firstoff: If you don't use an anonymous system like i2phex ( forum.i2p ~ View Forum - I2Phex ) you only have the anonymity of the mass: Your provider can sniff you and people can see what you search for, but you're just one of about 5 million simultaneous users. Also you send your searches to other uses and effectively ask them "do you have a matching file".

Besides: Every p2p network only works because people share and help each other. If you only want to download but not share bandwidth or route search results, you will rightfully be called leacher, because you profit from other peoples bandwidth without giving anything back.

Please find some legal material which you can share. Examples are free movies like elephants dream and big buck bunny (and much free software movies and political stuff) and most of the music from jamendo.

- Big Buck Bunny
- Free and legal music downloads - Jamendo

i used P2P few yrs ago then somebody told me that i'm sending search results to others and i stop after that day.. i asked the same questions and nobody answered.
now few yrs passed i'm here again asking the same questions " i'm I helping others search the guntella network for files? " or " can somebody see my search result? " maybe few years from now if i'm still a life somebody will answer my questions.

i want to send queries when searching the network for the files to get the serach result only.. i don't want to share the result with anybody or help others locate files on the network.. now what do i do to make that happen? be a leave or ultrapeer or what?

you don't know? maybe i should wait for one of the developers to answer my question
bye

You can always be traced via your ISP, there is no getting away from that because every time you us the Internet, including the gnutella network, you leave your IP address behind. This can be logged and, if required, will lead right back to your ISP who will then supply your name and address if requested to do so by the authorities.

I just won't do the reading for you. I gave you a link to an easy to understand resource which answers your question. And I doubt that any develop will answer you, when you're not even willing to read a link.

You openly intend to be a leech, and so I don't really see any merit in investing my free time for helping you with more than the pointer.

You guys are far too nice. I would have completely ignored that first post.

I don't like the take take take mentality at all. And now asking people to invest their free time into helping him/her take take take some more. And not only that, but actually wanting someone to type out simple answers, which can easily be studied.

z332, you don't want to be a leave, you want to leave.

I'm more of the mind to insert the silver spoon this d00d is searching for in some place other than his/her mouth...after heating it up with a propane torch of course ;)

i'm sorry if i'm not really expert in P2P stuff or torreent or any other service that i don't know about because i;ve only used P2P few times only
anyway.. you've wasted enough of my life
i'm gone
bye

nice little edit you did there d00d before the forum timer could note it was you who did it....I saw it occurring with my Mod's abilities :P...your original post is of course saved via my quotation of it below ;)
