Problem connecting from LAN

up until last week i had been using bearshare(free) without problems.we had some power cuts in our area which caused the network to go down for a few days, when we got back online we had to change the DNS server number in properties of network connections, since doing this i have been unable to get bearshare to connect.
i am using windows xp home, bearshare lite, would be grateful for any help getting bearshare to connect again, thanks.

If you're using a LAN, I presume you have a router right? Or not? Do you connect normally using UPnP or using port forwarding? If manual port forwarding then you'll most likely have to re-do it! If UPnP, check your network settings on your computer & make sure UPnP is still enabled on your system. This 'might' help: Connection problems? Check here first! It might also be worth deleting your BS preferences whilst BearShare is closed (make a note of the settings 1st.) Then go back & reset the connection settings. The previous server no. may have been recorded in your BS prefs.
