Well I know that the version of Bearshare 5.2.5 does work for a fact. It works very well on my Windows XP SP2 PC. If fact it download at this moment. I also do know it does work for Windows Vista Basic. I have tried and it does work fine. How ever I have seen more issues on this subject on how to fix this issue and no one has been able to put a finger on this yet. I am currently tring to make Bearshare work on Vista Ultimate and with no luck at all. I have tried older versions, lite versions. I have even used bearstart.exe and no luck. Even have tried setting permissions and run this as a XP program no luck again. I have even look at the feed back from Bearfix.exe and shows all ports to be open. I haven even opened all ports on my router and my firewall. Even shut it down. Geez..... Does anyone have any furthur suggestions on this matter at all? Has anyone truly been able to make this connection work?

hey ppl... if the first green light is just blinking RED saying cannot connect and you are running vista, then do the following: PS: i tested this on VISTA HOME PREMIUM. Other versions of im vista not sure. 1. go ahead and find bearshare lite 5.2.5 and install it on your system NOTE: it HAS to be bearshare lite 5.2.5 since i never tested it in other vers. 2. i have uploaded a file named db.mov 3. download the file an rename the file to extension .zip and then extract into a nice little drive someplace in ur pc

Hello, I have practically no knowledge of the inner workings of computers. I just stumbled onto this site, but maybe someone can help. I am having problems connecting to Bearshare. I am running Bearshare 4.5.1. It kept prompting me to upgrade, but when I did, we couldn't download anything without paying a fee, so we deleted that version and reverted back to the old one. The old one works every once in a while for maybe 10 minutes, but usually there is a red light saying "hosts not connected." I am running on a cable DSL connection with Windows XP. I have read some of these posts and I tried changing my port number in the setup--connections part of the taskbar on Bearshare but nothing happened. I also tried checking my firewall connections and Bearshare is on the exceptions list. Any suggestions?
