Could someone please help me with downloading skins?!

When i try to download a skin via limewire, it just says needs more sources, so then i try it with the internet. I save it and download it, and I go to the file and open it, and all there is is a bunch of the buttons used for the skin. How do i get to use the skin on limewire?

Just go to this web page and download the skins via LW. Lime Wire » Skins Gallery.

Right click on the files once their in the download window and have it "Find More Sources", then right click it again and have it search for the file again. Once it's downloaded you should get a popup asking you if you want to use the new skin.

To download skins via your web browser:

Go to: Lime Wire » Skins Gallery. Find the theme you want and right click on the link "Download Via Web Browser" and click "Save Link As..." Save it to C:\Documents and Settings\"your account name"\Application Data\LimeWire\themes. "Application Data" is a hidden folder, so you'll need to set your folder options to show hidden files and folders.

Download the zip file to your theme folder. Extract the zip file to a folder called "(skin name)_theme"(within the main theme folder).

Then change the extension of the ".zip" file to ".lwtp" and leave it in the main theme folder. To change the extension, right click on the file and click "Properties". Then at the top where the name of the file is, remove "zip" and replace with "lwtp", click "ok".

Open limewire and go to View>Apply Skins>(choose skin).

See pic below \/

1st file is the original .zip file.

2nd is the extracted .zip file

3rd is the .zip file changed to an .lwtp

Thanks! That really helped, so now I finally have the red skin I wanted. Thanks a lot!

Wait, now I need help because I downloaded a couple, and tried them, but I wanted to go back to the red one. So I clicked it, and it didn't do anything. So can I "reuse" them, or do I have to delete them and redownload them?

Open LW and go to View>Apply Skins>Refresh Skins. That should update the list to include all the skins you've d/loaded. Then all you should have to do is click on the skin you want from the list.

If it doesn't change at first, go back to View>Apply Skins, and try clicking on the skin in the list again and it should change.

Vista issue

I tried to follow the instructions above, but I don't think that Limewire is reading the same location on Vista. I even tried creating the exact same folder system as listed on the web site for the theme location. I receive an error that "The skin file you selected does not exist or is invalid. Please choose another file, or use the default." I received that message when trying to switch to the Metal theme. I downloaded the black theme and tried to copy it to the above mentioned folder location, but it did not even show up in the program, even after turning off the program and restarting. Could someone explain if possible how to change the theme on a Vista computer? Thank you in advance, and I'm sure many people will want to know this information, as any custom skins etc. will all be affected by this issue.
