Column Header Savings

Hey guys,

Good job on the column header options. I consider them a great improvement. The only problem I've had is that only the column header settings for the search results pane are saved when closing LimeWire. The settings for the download, upload, and connections pane are all reset when the program is restarted. Maybe someone out there can test whether this happens with the Library and Mp3 playlist panes (cause I haven't).

Keep up the good work.

Hey TruStar-

Good to see you here ol' buddy, how's it going? On the column header saving issue, Sam Berlin, and open source programmer, did all of the coding for it. Unfortunately, due to the way the LimeWire code has been structured for awhile, the search window is handled totally differently from all other windows (to implement things like saving the columns). So, for now, only the search window allows columns to be saved. I think Sam is planning to implement saving of column choices, sizing, etc. for a future version, but that change would ideally involve switching to using the same system for the search window as for all of the other windows, which makes it a fairly big project.

So, anyway, that's the story. It should be coming along soon.

Hope all's well.

Yup -- Adam's got it on the nail. Before adding persistence of the column size/visible preferences I wanted to move the search results over to the same table system.... but that's a really big project, and one I just didn't have time for. I'm 99.9% positive that it'll happen shortly after the new year, though.

I hide the chat column (in everything) & the status and hosts (in connections) column too much to not do anything about it. :)

Hey guys,

Thanks for the response! :-)
It's not a big issue. I'd say the fact that you can even modify the headers is a huge improvement. I do the same as Sam: I always remove the chat header.

Have a nice day!
