Do you know if the message you received read:

"Could not find a port to use for incoming connections. Please specify a port from the configuration window."

or:

"Could not listen to socket for incoming connections; aborting."

It would also be a great help if you could send me the "limewire.props" file located in your installation directories for both LimeWire 1.4 and LimeWire 1.6. If you could send them to afisk@limepeer.com, that would be wonderful.

Thanks very much -- I know this is a bit of a pain, but just think of all of the LimeWire users out there who you'll be helping!

Startup problems

I can't get 1.6b to launch. I continue to get an error stating that LimeWire can't find the .lax file, even though it is in the same directory.

I've tried reinstalling multiple times.

Fortunately, I can still run 1.4, but I would like to try the new version

I'm on MacOs 9.1, using MRJ 2.2.4.

Any ideas?

Success

LimeWire 1.6b beta loaded and runs just fine on RedHat 7.1 using jre 1.3.1. I was getting nowhere with the stock 1.6 version, so this is a very welcome development. Thanks.

Hi afisk,

all my _numerous_ attempts to install LW 1.4 as well as your new 1.6b on my iMac running MacOS 8.6 have failed...

Your installer installes hundreds of files into the TRASH and that's all. Nothing else gets installed on my mashine. Look at other postings in this forum - there are dozens of people with the same problem out there.

I am greatly disappointed and will certainly stop trying to install your programm anymore - too much time lost already.

Regards,

Valery

where to find 1.4

Hi,

I would like to download good old 1.4 that worked great for me whereas 1.6(b) refuses to connect.
The given link does not work (for me). Where can I find version 1.4 for windows?

Always getting "Failed to connect" in 1.6b

The version 1.6b does not work at all for me. Simply cannot connect to any host, the only message I ever get is "Failed to connect", then "Disconnected". Version 1.4b still works fine as usual. I got Wi***, and I'm behind a firewall. Any ideas?

In the feature list on the Limewire websit It says that you can minimize to the System Tray. I can't figure out how to do this. Any Ides? Thanks

"Couldn't Download"

No matter what I try to download, I get the "Couldn't Download" status.

This started with the version of LW that I had been using with very few problems. I upgraded, thinking that perhaps version was an issue. The problem continues.

Can anyone help me?

"Couldn't Download"

Just to clarify -

I am on Win 98, I am connected to the internet. Originally, I was behind a firewall, and things were working fine. When the "Couldn't Download" status began popping up, I forced an IP and set up my computer as the DMZ host on my router.

The status appears when a download would normally begin. Instead of beginning, it says "Couldn't Download".
