Moderators

There are senior members on the forums who serve as Moderators. These volunteers keep the board organized and moving.
Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity)
Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum.
Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules.
Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted.
Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender.
Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration.

The Rules

1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences.

2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated.

3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum.

4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks.

5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive.

6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator.

7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required.

8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning.

9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning.

10. Posts should have descriptive subjects. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents.

11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick.

12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit.

13. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues.

Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis.

Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community.

Default LimeWire 1.6d released

We have moved LimeWire 1.6d from beta to our official release.

New features include:

-The system tray feature now works for all Windows operating systems.

-The Windows installer now only downloads and installs the Java2TM Runtime Environment if it is not already present on your system, reducing the initial LimeWire download size to about 1.5MB.

-We have fixed several bugs that were appearing on all operating systems.

We hope everyone enjoys the new version, and, as always, please let us know of any problems you encounter. Thanks.

-The LimeWire Team

Default 1.6e?

So is this a new 1.6d or is it the same one?

What happened to the connection bug?

We simply moved the LimeWire 1.6d beta from beta to our official release, so yes, it is the same.

In terms of the connection bug, we are currently looking into it. It appears to be related to the new JRE, but we are not sure what is causing it at this point. The vast majority of users are still able to connect.

This is definitely one of our highest priority issues, however, so we should have it solved quite shortly.

I have downloaded LimeWire and the installation worked well, but I'm not sure how to go on now to share and download files. Where can I search for them?

When you start LimeWire, the first tab that appears on your screen is the "Search" tab. This tab has a text field at the top where you can enter search terms. You can then activate your search either by pressing the "Search" button or by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard.

Any files that you download will be shared by default. You can also add new directories to share in the Tools>>Options window under the "Sharing" tab.

Default LimeWire 1.6d kicks ***

Last night around midnight I started LimeWire and connected to 4TB in a matter of seconds. It of course connected to more the longer I waited. When I searched for something the results were also fast. I was very impressed with the new LimeWire and after a night of downloading for 9 hours straight, usually when I come back and try to do a new search, I cant b/c its not connected to any hosts and etc. Well this time it was still connected to a few and my search wen as fast as I first started it. Keeps up the good work.

I am using KDE in Linux, but did not have this problem using Gnome....

When I do a search, and the songs come up, I click on one and it will immediantly bring up a tab as if I had right clicked. It will not allow me to use the normal download buttons at all. It does the same thing with the search tab. Also, on a side note, my enter button doesn't work when trying to use it instead of having to manually press "search", which is also not a problem I had in Gnome.

I have a dual boot system, fat 32 and ntfs. My problem is my entire hard drive is being shared in both systems with only 50 or so files in the limewire shared folder. All settings are at default. the files I am sharing are not junk, bill g is ****ed at me, I don't want to leave limewire but I will not share my entire hard drive.

What makes you think that your entire hard drive is being shared? Does your entire hard drive appear in your library?

Try changing this to simply read:

javaw -cp . RunLime

You also might want to make sure that you see the Java2TM Runtime Environment, v1.3.1 listed in your programs under the Start>>Settings>>Control Panel Add/Remove Programs window. If this is not there, you should probably try installing LimeWire again.

Default All of Hard Drive being shared?

In the bottom right of the LimeWire Window, it shows the files as more than I have to share. I had this happen before and it was fixed by rebooting, but not now.

That is very strange. What is your LimeWire shared directory? If you change your shared directory in the Tools>>Options window, does it change the number of shared files listed?

Keep in mind that all subdirectories of your shared directory are also shared.

Default Sharing all of hard drive?

The path to Save and File Sharing in options is
C:\Program Files\LimeWire\Shared
The library shows 11 files shared but there are actually 17 files in the shared folder. The number of shared files that is shown at the bottom right in the LimeWire window is 4771 in both Windows 95B and Windows 2000.
I used to keep LimeWire on all the time except when I left the house but have turned it off until I can get this figured out. I do not think I have a virus at least one that is affecting my hard drive, because the free space is still the same.
