| No. Gnutella content is each day larger than it was before. It hasn't reach a peak yet. If you want more quality files on Gnutella, then the best thing to do is to get them with a bittorrent or ED2K client and share those downloaded files on Gnutella afterwards. If many people do that, that will help tremendously. Ciao

| That's a good idea. I wonder if many people are doing this. I wonder whether it would be useful if Limewire offered a built-in Bittorrent client? Sphynx :-) Quote:

| i constantly download CD's all the time from a certain network then share them on gnutella (making sure that each file is properly named and tagged with proper naming conventions like artist - title.mp3). looking at the activity of my upload monitor, people are heavily enjoying me doing this. BT support MAY be added to future 5.2 or higher versions. |

| That would be really great! I'd love to be able to do everything in the one application. What other new features will 5 bring? Stu :-) Quote:

| I've heard at least one LW build has had bittorrent support since at least last year. Whether it compromises upon bandwidth for other gnutella users I don't know. The member(s) lol involved might be able to add some insight into this. Obviously such a point depends upon a person's bandwidth capability. But I believe it has a lot to give for the network as et voilà suggested with the xtra material available thru torrents. But I'm a newbie re: torrents so I'm a ... get the chance to learn more about it when I can. lol |

| I personnally get the stuff I can't here on edonkey. Then I share it on Gnutella. Don't count on BT support in LW. It might happen someday, but Trap_Jaw is now working on something else and I'm against multi clients Ciao

| BT is hardly a network... their is very little overhead because the overhead consists of connecting to the tracker, getting ips, and connecting to those ips. the network itself is not searchable (however, LW could share the torrents back into the network creating somewhat of a trackerless torrent or a decentral way of accessing torrent files.) i recommend lw seeding at a ratio of 1:1, to keep the major BT apps from viewing LW as a leech (somethin raza should be tought). once the content is finished download, the file is auto-shared into the gnet. making content more accessable since the file is shared back into both nets, everyone is happy. BT would hardly be making LW multinetted because the overhead is so low, it doesnt leech, and it would be the same as downloading content direct from a server, but giving one copy away to a friend. |

| Thanks all for that info. Ultracross, you take all the fun away by not sharing the secrets (hee, hee). Can someone please also just advise me as to how Limewire development works? Does Limewire have a team of paid developers or does Limewire work a little like Openoffice.org? I'm confused. Stu :-)

| Both. There is a paid team & there are also contributors. et voilà would be the best to fill you in there.

| Salut, there are a couple of paid LW devs (developers on this page) http://www.limewire.com/english/content/team.shtml There are also open source contributors like Philppe Verdy, Rogerk, Gregorio Roper and other that contribute to LW pieces of code named "patches". They submit them here http://www.limewire.org/mailinglist.shtml LW is also offering bounties for open source devs if they implement some features in LW: http://www.limewire.org/wishlist.shtml If you have more questions, ask Ciao
