Malicious Script in Beta??!!

After installing LimeWire 2.2.0 Beta, NAV wrote me that there is a malicious script detected (RegDelete)!!

I just stopped it and quarrentined it and it hasn't caused any trouble.

OK,

I did the same thing, but I still want to know what is this script and what is it doing in LimeWire.

its some spyware crap
(as usual)
probably it trys to add itself to autostart, and norton has flagged "self-autostarting" as malicious
i think its topmoxie

well,

Well, other programs that autostart are not detect as malicious SCRIPTS.

I really have no idea what could flag any script in the installer as malicious. The installer may very well automatically delete registry entries of your old LimeWire versions, but that's about the extent of it. Deleting registry entries is a standard part of many installs and is definitely not malicious. That's the type of operation that the registry was invented for (dynamically storing application settings).

If it helps, here's a <a href="http://www.geocities.com/compupc1/badlimewire.jpg">screenshot</a>:

This behavior only started with 2.2.0, I believe (and continues in 2.2.1). I don't know why this happens, because no other programs that upgrade trigger stuff like this.

I believe you that it's not harmful but it still is an annoyance for those with Norton Antivirus 2002.

I just want to let everyone know that this was an installer error, and it's fixed in the latest version (2.2.3).

Thanks.
