"1. When searching for music use the Audio-tab and not the All Files-tab. I know several others ask you to try the All Files-tab, but if you follow these "hints" You will find many more and better results. If you don't find what you're looking for then feel free to try the All Files-tab, but there is very rarely anything to be found which would not be found using the Audio-tab"

I tryed looking in the audio section and it will only give me vidoe results. Has this ever happened to anyone else? and if it has, how do I fix it?

Please don't Doublepost. I don't know why you can't get your search to work and I'm sure others will see your thread in the "Getting started section"

The only reason that this thread is even open is so that people that have something useful to add can post it here.

So I say this again

Only post in this thread if you have something useful to add

Limewire 4.12.3 / Newest Phex / Newest Azureus

I recommend using either an old Limewire version without BitTorrent support or Phex for Gnutella, Azureus is BitTorrent. None of this Limewire Gnutellatorrent hybrid crap.

Default tip on finding music

don't use the whole song title if it's a long 1, it's only a search, ur only supposed 2 use key words in a search

On a side note to sleepless, or anyone else who gets the dancing girl video, the file size is 1,034 kb, most always!

Default how I search for hard to find stuff

I have found I have the best luck using the all file types tab.... what I will do is enter a search something like: *sublime*badfish*.mp3
or: *rolling*stones*.mp3

You get the idea... it works great for me.
also use the "get more results" as many times as necessary, and sometimes it takes alot of times.

@ nosleepno

Just curious, but what is your success rate for downloads?

I just tried that Rolling Stones thing and got what is probably 2000 fake files and 3 legit ones. 2003 results. Tried some samples and not a single one downloaded. BTW I normally just close the search, if the results go over 750 in the initial search.

Default sucess rate

It's actually pretty good... the rolling stones thing was just an example.. you want to be more specific... basically just look at the way most mp3's are named, and put the name of the song you want.... using the * as variables. For example I just searched for *cake*ruby*.mp3 for the song by Cake called "ruby sees all", I got 148 results, without using the get more results thing. about half of them were obviously fake, didn't even have the keywords in them, not mp3's, etc...
The first good one I tried downloaded in 45 seconds, and was the correct file...
That is pretty typical of just about ANY song I have searched for. ANy movie also...
I don't know if it makes a difference, but I purchased Limewire Pro... actually I know it makes a difference, cause the pro works WAY better than the regular one, for me at least.... thanks, to the people that wrote this software

Well I agree with you completely about PRO being better

I tried with other stuff as well and got more junk than searching under audio

You do know that limewire does not recognise * as anything right?

try cake ruby under audio. Add .wma to the keywordfilter first

Did a little test

Attachment 2964

1: Audio. All fake

2: All Files. All fake

3: All Files. 2 legit

4: Audio. 10 Legit including a 320 kbps result

Like I said in the guide. Exhaust all possibilities

I still kinda proved your point though since I had to change the keywords

Default thats weird...

I already got .wma on the ignore list, as well as a few ip's on the block list.
seems like i get different results when using cake*ruby*.mp3 than if i just use cake ruby .mp3 , in the all types search...
see attached pics for details...

I discovered one day that if you type in the artist and album name only you get much better results when searching for something you're having particular spam probs with. Or even just the album. I've been searching before and had hundreds of spam results, downloaded about ten different ones and all were spam. I typed just the album name and only a few results came up but they were all good.

Obvious problem is it only works if the song is already on an album!
