Bitrates

I am used to the cd quality 160, 192 224 256 320 kbps mp3s, and when I'm downloading files sometimes the files say there are other bitrates IN limewire while searching, but when u open it up it says 320 or whatever it is, and also i was told there is Variable bit rate, but they would appear as the other bitrates in the properties, but these do not. so my question is why does it show me 2 different bitrates?

Windows properties can only distinguish between constant bit rates, so almost every single V0 or V2, which are the most common VBR, will be seen as either 320 or 256.

If you use a player like e.g. Foobar2000, you will be able to see average bit rate. Another option is to use programs like AudioChecker to scan the files.

so will that be fixed in future releases?

BY the way its not my music player saying the awkward bitrates, its limewire itself when i look at my files thru the limewire program

HELP LOL:bangh: :D:yahoo:

The "Awkward" bit rates are the average bit rate. Limewire can for the most part distinguish between constant and variable bit rates. Don't know how well the numbers can be trusted though. Try checking the files with any program that can distinguish between CBR and VBR.

i see thanks , so what makes them so busy anyway? i know u saidits bittorrent but what exactly is wrong?

Sleepless September 21st, 2008 04:26 AM

I don't really get what you mean by busy? People aren't on the Internet 24/7 and most don't have their client (e.g. Limewire) on 24/7 either. Just be patient.

i really dont like baby sitting downloads. watching the download go from lets say 100 k per sec down to 0 then waitingon busy hosts in a matter of 20 seconds of resuming is VERY annoying and bad for the arteries, shouldnt the newer versions of limewire be fixing this problem?
