Why doesnt the LW 5.1 'block host' feature work?

Yes I read the sticky about blocking IPs it was interesting [BTW - hi folks. my first post].

But seriously, every search I get the same ridiculous returns by the same idiots regardless if I block them. They still appear. Not like the older version of LW that one worked.

I've read the info and know what I'm doing, it just do not block anyone!!

Any advice is welcome before I download the program mentioned in the sticky to block that junk and allegedly help my speed.

thnx!

It appears to be a bug. I noted this over at beta forum, someone listed as a bug: https://www.limewire.org/jira/browse/LWC-3118

Sorry about that, the bug's now been fixed and the feature should work in the next version.

I had the same problem with LW not blocking IP's that I put on the block list.
Some one told me about Peerguardian2 by Phoenix Labs.
I have it running on Vista 32 and it works beautifully. I can't even believe all the crap it keeps blocking. My download speeds increased, too.
If anyone needs help with it, message me. Otherwise it's here.
Don't forget to load the additional BlockLists
If you run Vista 32, make sure you
1. ALWAYS run it as Administrator and 2. Download the Vista Loader.

As it says on their site - it's FREE and you run it at your own risk.

I've been running it problem free and I won't even start LimeWire until Peerguardian2 is up and running!!

*kinda neat - PG2 also blocks the annoying ads when you're watching TV shows on IMDB.com but it doesn't block the show itself!!*

:) Just two main things to consider with Peerguardian. (1) It uses a lot of computer resources (on some people's systems at least). (2) PG do not recheck their ip addresses after adding. And since so many spammers use dynamic ip addresses, which can change quickly in some cases ... means some innocent people could & as has been told privately to me .. have been affected by PG's filtering with their own ip's on the list.

People in general do however find great improvement in using PG combined with LW. :) Just that some innocent people might get affected by its use.
