| The following suggestions are based on the assumption that each servent connected to the Gnutella network has a limited capacity for uploads - limited by bandwidth, and possibly limited slots based upon preference settings. Therefore, I'd like to see the following as preferences in Limewire, in order to prevent one client from using all the slots/bandwidth available from a client : a) number of simultaneous uploads from a single IP address - enable/disable button, with settings from 1 to maximum-number-simultaneous-uploads. (NOTE - I *thought* this was in Limewire 1.3, but I don't see it anywhere in 1.7c. I haven't examined the limewire.props file yet, but the setting should be part of the GUI and not require editing text files.) b) When I'm downloading, I'd like an option to "set maximum number of simultaneous downloads" -- allows me to queue up a number of files and avoids the periodic attempts to re-connect and get the "upload limit reached" message. I think of this one as a combination of good citizen plus network bandwidth conservation. That's it. |
