?to do with incorectly named files?

HEllo..

I searched for Stosny audio files.. on a self help issue for anger managment...
which I really need after working on this computer... ; (

so I get several finds.. and I down load 2 that look like they are not viruses or zip folders (/ are they more dangerous.. zip files?)

one of them wont play .. but it does show that it downloaded..
and the other one was not stosny it was an immitator named Dane spotts
or some thing like that..

My ??? 1) is there a page that show's the types of files that are not safe to open (Like with lime wire .. some one told me not to open any under 150KB - or that some zip files.. are dangerous.. )

2) I used the bitzi thing.. and it said the file was ok.. but it was not even
from or about the author I looked for ... ?? How can I search better and identify false files before downloading

3) should I mark the file .. from the immposter .. as ?incorrect ?
and how do I do that..

Thanks for the help
Deb

You can take a guess about the size files should have.

Also you can rule out most zip files.

If your searches don't turn up regular results, you'll often get only spam, and the second best way to work with that is not to share them. We can't yet block all spam, sadly.

The best way would be to join development (or find someone with Java skills who'd like to join) and implement credence or a similar verification into phex:
