Default Being Sharp with Newbies

Samtaz14

I only become harsh with conned newbies when they come to this forum shouting the odds that LW ripped them off, it's someone else’s fault that they've been ripped off, sheer newbie arrogance or that the volunteers that help out around here owes them something.

However, if a newbie says “help, have I been conned?” or “Help, I’ve been conned, what do I do?” then they will get all the “help” I and the other volunteers here can give.

If you had actually read my original post correctly I wasnt blaming anyone and had in fact been resigned to what had happened but still you feel the need to arrogantly shout your cleverness that you weren't conned. Well done!!!

I do not blame LW for this problem either but i thought other people would like to know for information and maybe LW can look into it if not already doing so and stop these sites from ruining LW's name as i found it brilliant until the new 4.29 was released. i can confirm that i too paid money to this site as recommended in a well known monthly Rag i mean Mag after contacting the website i been told i was charged for the service they provide so wont pay them anymore simple. my credit card company also thought LW should take some responsibility but after explaining i did not originally access LW direct and these sites just direct you to LW they seemed to relent, still not getting my money back though but the card is blocked so no money can be taken. Not all lessons in life are free and this one cost me a few quid it could have been much worse. so let up on us newbies as we learn, more constructive comments help us not to fall into traps in the future, i look up to people who have knowledge and share it, those that snear and say things like you should have known better, in most cases i,ve found dont know as much as they think they do. But as i have problems with my connection and the info i am getting throgh the other posting and generally in these forums is very helpful i'd like to thank all you experts especially as i know i'm gonna need your help sometime or other in the future. bit of a long posting this sorry but hope this can help somebody.

You know, I cannot find your original post where you said I took a pop at you for being scammed.

Could you provide a link so that I can see again your original post and my reply that seem to have made you so angry?

Believe me when I say that I am not an arrogant person or believe that I am so clever that I can't learn from other people.

I will say this though, I work for my living and I hate it when someone tries to, or set traps to, take my hard earned money for nothing. I also use the internet to buy most of the stuff I own therefore I appreciate the value of money and appreciate the value of a little research before parting with my cash.

Thinking about it, maybe you should not be resigned to being ripped off, you should be angry that you were lied to and taken for a sucker (remember the saying: there’s one born every minute). Scam sites flourish because far too many newbies throw their money at them and then do nothing afterwards, except blame somebody else. So unless your money means nothing you should get onto your credit card company and demand your money back.

UK Bob

PS. Anger is only useful if it is aimed at the right target.

I really appreciate the trouble you take to write back to my posts and would like to gently point out that maybe you should read your own reply and apply much of it to yourself.

Default Please supply the site address when posting here

For anybody who does get scammed by scam sites, please supply the site address URL so I can add it here Known Scam Sites to help warn others & for other people's quick reference.

PS: ukbobboy01 please go easy on these people, remember they're very upset by what's happened. Their mistakes are obvious, they don't need to be run into the ground over it. The League of the Scammed approach you use is a little heavy at times considering they're already upset. They 1st need advice how to get a refund/cancellation of the transactions.

I purchases a lifetime membership in AllCoolMusic a while ago. Limewire came with it as a download. They sais Limewire was free. The fee was for their own efforts to develop the network.

Angry uggghhh

Guess what? I got screwed as well...I'm new to this downloading stuff and I researched the best downloading sites via yahoo search after messing with Kazaa (hated it!). This review site came up with all these "free" sites...the site that was rated the best was ****MP3LIVEMUSIC.COM****, I was very confused when after I paid for it, it directed me to LimeWire Basic after paying for what I thought was:

Billing information
Membership type:Lifetime Full & Unlimited Access with 25% OFF! for a total of 22.46 $ USD
Pro Version Upgrade - Movie Codec Pack for a total of 14.95 $ USD
NetSpyProtector Option - Protect yourself from malware for a total of 9.88 $ USD

Grand total: 47.29 $ USD

The charge will appear on your credit card as P2PSupport.Net

I am disputing with my credit card company right now b/c I cannot get anyone to answer me in tech support because of my work hours - they are closed by the time I get off...

I told my cc company that I did not authorize the purchase (truly I did not!), can I do that???

Cool

I too searched for free music on the Internet. Eventually I got to AllCoolMusic. They offered a lifetime membership for $34.95 and a two year plan for $.99 per month. The downloads would be free (and they have been). I chose the two year plan. Soon a charge showed up on my CC account for $24.95. I asked them about this. After an exchange of emails they converted my account to a lifetime account for no extra charge. I got a warm feeling.

Best of luck with your CC issuer.
