These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. 2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. 3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum. 4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. 10. Posts should have descriptive subjects. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit. 13. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. | Elvin, I can only suggest you cancel your card. Also your card company might make a refund as you have been victin of fraud, but it might be a bit late for this. They look as if they will continue to charge you so this is the only way to stop them. I can't see that a fraudulent contract can be legally binding. I would not lose sleep over this, but if you want to make a nuisance of yourself, the following thread, might be of interest. get your $$$ BACK!!!(music members) |

hi new to all this i signed up with realmusicnow.com paid them about €45 and got limewire was under the impression that this money was for the full version but is actually just the free version when I try to download or contact any links in their site i get virus alerts ..total scam. Paid for this about 3 weeks ago only got round to using limewire in last few days (kids did actually) so i reckon 2 late to do anything about it guess I will just have to pay for the limewire and put it down to experience

Well, it is worth a try, to get the money back from your card company, or the site. Some have succeeded, but I DO suggest you cancel your credit card as the scammers have your details and can do what they like with them, unless the card is cancelled. Deleting the Limewire you have, running a virus and spyware scan and downloading the proper one from www.limewire.com, might be wise as well Good Luck

Okay, I am big enough to admit when I have made a mistake. My husband went to www.ares.com and signed up for Limewire. A friend of ours sent him there. He went through the steps to sign up for limewire and when it told him you had to pay he said okay. Turns out they charged us 45.71. 17.88 - 1 year membership, 9.88 - protection program,. 14.95 - movie pass ( I thought was for pro upgrade). Anyway when I saw the thread that said limewire was always FREE i got the phone number on the charge from my bank and called them. Turns out they are a limewire assistance company. You pay all this money, they give you no way to contact them, and they are supose to help you understand how to use limewire. Hello. How dumb was I..So anyway I learned from my mistake. I asked for a refund and they said it was past 7 days but they refunded me the 9.88 and the 14.95.

also, if anyone else went to www.ares.com the phone number to call them is 1-866-488-0790. I contacted them and they refunded me the 9.88 for program protection and 14.95 for some kind of movie pass.

Irishmary. Sit on them and I hope you get the refund. jganaway. Just for information it seems ares.com is not doing the name of ares any favours. I believe the oficial site for Ares is http://aresgalaxy.sourceforge.net/

Thank you to everyone for encouraging me to get my money back! I received a notice from the bank today that $46.65 was being credited back to my account. Honestly, I found the whole scam to be really discouraging and I would not have bothered to dispute the transaction because I felt to dang stupid for getting suckered in the first place. I did not even realized I had been scammed until weeks after I made my "purchase." Truthfully, I had barely any recollection of which site I visited. I failed to keep any record of my transaction and no record of that day was left in my browser. All I had was my bank record of the transaction: "DIRECTDEBIT/VISA-WP-DOWNLOAD SOCIETMONTREAL", (which is disturbingly vague and apparently refers to some "musical instrument store" in Quebec) and my sad, sad story to tell. I went ahead and disputed the transaction anyway and won! I would not have done it without the knowledge and encouragement I found in this forum. THANK YOU!! I can't imagine that it is possible to have less information than I had about my Limewire "purchase." When I inquired at a few of these sights about "refunds." (Trying to figure out which one I had unwittingly joined.) I received aggressively threatening and hostile responses which implied that challenging my membership or taking the dispute to my bank would cost me more money. By then I realized that their threats were entirely empty (like their memberships)and I confirmed with the bank that disputing the charge would cost me nothing. IF YOU REALIZED THAT YOU HAVE BEEN SCAMMED- IT'S NOT TOO LATE- MAKE THE MOVES TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK! (and, more importantly, some self-respect). I consider many valuable lessons well learned. Thank you all for your insight, experience, and wisdom.

I reported my scammers to www.ifccfbi.gov. they investigate internet fraud in connection with the FBI. don't know if it will do any good, but it sure made me feel better!

http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/Limew...-10376245.html Free Limewire PRO Cram packed with Viruses and trojans. Watch out!

I was taken in by one of these sites selling Limeware (a different colour skin was the only difference). As I already have Limewire Pro I wasn't best pleased. They have said I will get a refund, but I have asked my credit card company to stop the payment - too late I'm told but they will investigate. I paid £33.36, so fingers crossed I get the cash back. I wonder has anyone noticed the Google ads at the top of each page in this forum - many of them are links to these scam web sites. How can this be allowed on the Limewire forum!! I hope someone investigates this - they should be banned. The site after I had registered is www.TheMusicsMembersArea.com
