Moderators

There are senior members on the forums who serve as Moderators. These volunteers keep the board organized and moving.
Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity)
Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum.
Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules.
Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted.
Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender.
Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration.

The Rules

1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences.

2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated.

3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum.

4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks.

5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive.

6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator.

7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required.

8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning.

9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning.

10. Posts should have descriptive subjects. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents.

11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick.

12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit.

13. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues.

Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis.

Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community.

Default Is there a worse File Sharing Program?

I haven't tried all the P2P File Sharing Programs but, without a doubt, Limewire is the worst.

LOL Why? If it's properly configured you might find otherwise! You mean you don't like it b/c it's not a leech? Is it you don't like sharing or something? You prefer P2M apps (peers to me only)? lol

Yeah, quite a few p2p`s that are bad news, much worse than this.
Ultimately, the worse p2p`s are always the ones with a low userbase.

Y`know what they say, `so many people cant be wrong`, go where the people are.

Personally I love it so far. I've downloaded a ton of files and had no problems.

I was going to try Kazaa but it said there was something on my computer it didn't like and that I'd have to get rid of first when I was downloading. Whatever, so skip that one.

Tried Morpheus..worked fine for one day...then the search function refused to ever work again. Tried reinstall, system restore, virus/spyware sweep..no dice.

So next..Lime Wire..no problems at all, and great success finding and getting what I want. As far as I'm concerned then, the others suck, and Lime Wire is awesome

Default i tell ya every day i hate lime more

You all sit their and say lime wire is so good, not properly configed. or what ever. I am on a cable internet, and can download a 20mb file in no more then 13 min. ONE it takes me almost a week to download a 200mb if i can. One min i am downloading the file the next i am waitting in line, next server is busy. O but yes, the files for you all still keeps working for sum odd reasone. Kazaa has spy ware, well at least with kazaa you could actuly get a file. It never took me this long to get a show on kazaa on a dial up at 24kbs. I have a lot of movies and such that i have downloaded over the years. Guess what I sure wont be shareing them here if this is the way you all are.

m-27 (LW measures transfers in kilobytes, not kilobits.)

Just checked--neighbour installed LW on his XP machine, and with no extra configuration he was really impressed with his download speeds (90 files in about 1 hour). I checked my cable and download speeds look just fine here too:

Of course, all depends on which of the 1,000,000 other users who successfully use LW you connect to.

Sorry to hear that your connection/setup sucks. Hope Kazaa works better for you.

Default yea your right

One sec i get about 45kB, the next sec i get 0kB. The next sec i am waitting in line as always. Left computer on for two days in order to try and download a 220mb file. Two people were able to download 240mb files off me. I on the other hand have maybe 30% downloaded and at this point I am waitting in line again. lol Yea i guess I could go back to kazaa, (pay them and all) but since I paid for lw pro. I figure i will keep trying this thing for a while. Since its not the prog it's the losers on the other end.

turning off uploads shouldn't make much difference. We used to throttle uploads to 85% of upload bandwidth, but I don't know if that's really necessary any more with the newer LW's.

Really--if you want to test your downloads, try the free and legitimate files from www.magnetmix.com

better yet, see A few things to consider while configuring Limewire for optimal performance...

Default lol

Yep called cable comp, I have 128kb upload speed, and 1mb download speed. So I shouldnt be getting 2kB download speed off of another persone that is listed as cable persone too. I love like i said before, one min i am able to download off someone and the next im waitting in line, or waitting on a busy host.

Question Limewire the worst???

Limewire the worst? Dont think so!

I think limewire easily beats Kazaa and the rest, its easier to use, looks better, runs smoother AND is MUCH faster!

But agreeing with many other posts on here, u gotta make sure its properly configured!

Default yep so true love lw

i do love lime wire best but wish people would share their files, instead of showing them but not letting anyone download them. I have over 500 files listed and avalible. but when i try to download i still get good for a bit, then it will say need more sorces, do a new search and they are still listed in the search, making me think they are still on line just not shareing i could be wrong.

This might help you. Just some tips: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities. Finding xtra sources by searching can sometimes get you out of your 'waiting in line'. Of course you probably already saw Stief's link to the 2nd one anyway.
