 download virgin needs help i'm a virgin when it comes to downloading, i need someone to show me the ropes. 1*i'm all for sharing but a tad concerned that some weirdo will be able to take anything off my pc. can this happen? 2*how do i share the hundreds of music cd's i have on my pc? 3*and how do i organise and save the files i have downloaded?  please don't tell me to check the forums, i've spent hours trying to find the answers.

 Do you already have Limewire installed? Did you let it scan your hard drive for the files you wish to share? If already on your drive you should already be set to share them. in Limewire options, go to settings and select the folder you wish to share. Your download files will be stored in the Limewire shared folder if in windows its located under the Documents & Settings folder on your c drive if in XP. Hope this helps? | sorry, i've got lw pro and run windows xp. i followed your instructions and all i could find were files di had already down loaded from lw. i've added some pictures no problem but when i tried to share my music folder i ran into problems. can i share all music (which is seperated off into sub folders for each artist) or do i have to share each song individually. i had a minor freakout about people getting personal stuff from my pc and removed some shared folders and i think i've screwed it up. by the way thanx so much for your help.

| sorry i forgot to say, the reason i don't think the music went on is; when i went into the shared files all the music was listed but had 0 next to it in the size column.

| How many folders are you trying to share? Try to limit your shared files and not go over a certain amount because the RIAA likes to grab users that are sharing over a thousand files. Did you go to your LW settings to check your shared folders? You dont need to share all your folders or files, go to settings as LW uses the default limewire 'shared' folder. |

| don't you sleep?? only joking thanx for the help. i'll bear the advise in mind if i ever get them on, i think there is over 1000 so i wont put them all on. yes i looked in the shared music file and they were listed but like i said they didn't show and content (0 kb size). do you think i should just share a few songs at a time and save each song individually. could you check my files and see if they are there? thanx.

| share the root folders/directories of all your music directories (DONT share your entire C: drive!). limewire will recursively share any subdirectories that you wish to share. if there are any files that you wish to not share and are being shared, you can unshare them by finding them in the library and right-clicking the file, then press stop sharing. you can also unshare any folders/directories you wish. just take some time to learn your own system. make sure you have basic computing knowledge before using the internet, then learn the basic knowledge that it requires!! |
