MP4 to MP3

Hi there

I have a folder of MP4a files (not sure how I managed to get that format) that I need to convert to MP3 to load onto a mobile phone.

Any suggestions all I can find on search is burning MP4 as MP3 onto a CD

Cheers

Hello there you,

Coming to my rescue again !

I can see on iTunes how to burn the files to MP3 but not how just to convert them.

Any ideas on how to do that, I think I may be being a bit blonde about this !

Under normal circumstances, if I may comment, nobody would want to be converting from mp3 to m4a or vice versa. These are both lossy formats meaning they throw away information to help reduce in size. So if you have a bottle of Baileys & poor a full glass worth down the toilet, then you have left a compressed audio file namely mp4 or mp3. So if you convert them again, then that's another glass or so wasted. lol :D

If you only downlded them with the sole intention of copying to mobile phone I don't suppose it matters since the quality of mobile phone listen-ability isn't worth worrying about.

Thanks for the input, nice analogy Mr Lord

I just bought a V3i phone and though I may as well put some tunes on, it only accepts MP3. Thats the only reason why. I don't expect much from the quality !

I can assure you none of my Baileys will be wasted !

Personally, I like M4a's and will convert any MP3 to M4a format even if their is a loss of quality. The songs that I have converted still sound good in stereo headphones. :D

Hi there Whitney

I don't have a choice of file type, I bought a Motorola V3i (saves having an MP3 player & a phone to cary about) and the instructions told me to load only MP3 files.

It has a digital player and so far I am very impressed with the sound quality.

Listen to them on a hi-fidelity stereo system with hi quality speakers in a balanced sound set up, & then compare them to the original CD, & you'll notice a lot of difference in quality. Most notably loss of both high & low frequency range, loss of sound separation, loss of overall sound quality. A direct comparison using good listening equipment is the best way. Even sub-standard listening equipment will show how much considerable loss of quality there is.

But if you're happy with it, then that's fine. I'd just suggest you don't re-share your re-converted files. That "would" be unfair to those who are looking for reasonable quality files to get a hold of. Share your originals instead. (hint) ;)
