Question Connection?

When I log onto Limewire, I have requested that connection status is only enabled when selected. There is an icon showing all red bars, indicating the disconnect status and also that the firewall is enabled. For some reason, it will automatically connect when in idle status and take away the firewall. How can I prevent this?
Thanks for your help!

Why do you wish to be totally firewalled? Are you a freeloader?

My main concern is viruses and such. I'm not too familiar with how all that works, but I was under the impression that when the firewall wasn't up, you are more susceptible to them. It seemed odd how sometimes I could be connected and still have the firewall up and other times it would be down.
