These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. 10. Posts should have descriptive subjects. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit. 13. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban.  Hey Peerlees, I use to use Norton but have since gone to Avast.. I have completly deleted all signs of Norton, but when I did istall Spybot I was using Norton.. So should I just leave it there and not worry about it??  |

| well...said little 'hack' is a norton's thing..I guess Windoze don't like them, lol, and refuses to recognize proper protection, hence they (Norton's) have a little hack to stop the Security Center from bugging the hell out of you....I know it bugged the hell out of me during the update process of my version of Norton's products, and I was damn glad when I finally got the update that contains that 'hack' since you are no longer using Norton's, then said hack is totally useless to you now, so of course just leave it in the quarantine of Spybot..... |

| I believe that hack is a Norton Firewall thing Windows firewall and Norton's do not get along at all. And the Norton firewall is a much better firewall than Windows. It blocks incoming and outgoing. Windows only blocks outgoing or incoming I really can remember. Alzheimer's I guess

 Ahhhh Grandpa your not doing to bad lol...Windows Firewall is all that I have is that a bad thing?? The norton security that I had previously didn't have a firewall either it was just the basic set up... |

| You can get zone alarm it is free but remember to configure it for LimeWire. And yes I do Like Norton's but it uses more memory but if you have plenty it is godd too. http://www.zonelabs.com/store/conten...eeDownload.jsp

| I couldn't find the line it says to delete. There is another link to the Avast site. Evidently Zone Alarm blocks Avast from assessing the Internet but it can be worked around. http://www.avast.com/eng/webshield_issues.html#idt_6867

| This is what was suggested If you are using ZoneAlarm Free you should click NO, because privacy features are not present in ZoneAlarm Free this will not turn off web shield transparent mode proxy. Use a text editor and edit the avast4.ini file, the default installation location is C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\avast4.ini (I would advise you copy avast4.ini before editing it, just in case). Locate the line containing ZoneAlarmCompatibility= and delete that line. Save the edited avast4.ini file. If you are using ZoneAlarm Pro and Privacy Control in ZoneAlarm is set to High and if you click YES in avast compatibility dialogue box the transparent mode proxy in web shield will be turned off you have to manually configure browser to access internet. | you are using free... so, go to Root:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA then locate the 'avast4.ini' file... then right click and choose to open with notepad or wordpad... then find the line of that .ini file that reads 'ZoneAlarmCompatibility='... delete the whole line... close notepad, choose to save changes, and turn the program on and see what happens..of course, follow the given advice to make a copy of the avast4.ini just in case things go whacked...in which case you might even have to boot into safe mode to remove the edited version, rename the original back to avast4.ini, then restart in normal mode.... oh, and obviously turn the program off before you start trying to edit the .ini file.... |
