These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. 10.  a Trojan is a little piece of code that is added into your OS....it basically creates an open door for a hacker to easily enter through, thereby giving them control of your computer |

I just had to do this yesterday whilst dealing with the pipas.a trojan...no program would delete it, though Spybot would detect and delete ONE of the entries, but not totally kill the sucker..so in the end I had to boot into safe mode and delete the .exe that was being slealthy and changing its name every boot up, and then delete the registry entry..seems to be gone now... |

| I came across a trojan today. McAfee noticed it. It was in my temporary internet files so I deleted all of them and right now I'm doing a virus scan. Is there anything else I should do just in case? |

| download and use Spybot Search&Destroy (when updating I have found the 'Safer Networking #1' server to be the most reliable, and also get AdawareSE... update both and scan with them if you find something, it is a good idea to reboot and scan again to see if it comes back (like the one I had did) so that you know what's up... |

| I just downloaded SpyBot Search&Destroy. It asked if I want to make a backup registry key. What the hell is that and should I make a backup of it? Sorry for all the questions but I never had to do this before. |

| the backup will preserve the present state of your registry before the program starts deleting things...this is in case something is deleted that causes problems with your system, so that it can be put back to its prior state in an emergency situation..to be honest, I skip this, as I am pretty confident (OK, read stupidly arrogant if you will) as to what I let Spybot delete, but in your case it sounds like the backup is a good idea from what you've said |

| Wondering Why Hopefully that doesn't mean your alerts have been disabled. Windows XP will let you know if you do not have a firewall turned on or if your antivirus has been disabled. You can check by going to Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Security Center on the left hand side of the screen click on change the way Security center Alerts me. Make sure all of the boxes in the pop-up are checked.
