No the final version of 4.13, not the beta.

-*-|IRON|MAN|-*-, The release version will be a while yet, and will have a different number. As you can see from the changelog, there's a ton of stuff to test before a general release goes out. Also, there is another very important development waiting to be tested too (the mojito DHT).

So, I'd be surprised to see a general update much before Christmas.

well, I'm trying to track down an upload problem (90% of gnutella uploads are beng interrupted; torrent uploads are going through fine).

If anyone knows about configuring firewalls with Mandrake 2007, I'm listening

Nice thing about the linux box is that it runs LW 24/7 as an UP with no VMem problem so far: I just need to figure out why the uploads are getting interrupted even though incoming is just fine.

And Hobo--if you want the fun and frustration of testing, you could probably boot your G3 with some Linux distro and use the new java if Apple doesn't bother with supporting the newer java on the older machines.

I've found out the hard way with beta products (and I'm not just talking LW, I'm talking anything in general) that they don't always work the way you'd like, so I'm gonna wait until the finished product is released. I'd rather not get involved in the LW beta and then discover to my surprise and disgust that I have to get rid of it due to the possibility of it not working correctly. I'd rather go by the old adage, "It's better to be safe than sorry."

I know it's mentioned in the Beta forums but thought it worth mentioning here. The 4.13 Beta seems to misrepresent the up-load speed. It showed mine to be about half of what it normally is.

I thought my ISP started shaping my bandwidth. So I called them and complained. They said they didn't block file sharing programs. I didn't really believe them but accepted their explaination.

So I switched back to ver. 4.12.6 and my speeds returned to normal .

So if anyone else notices this, you may want to switch back to the current version before you call tech support and blame them for messing with your bandwidth .

See what I mean? The beta version has bugs in it. I figured it would, which is why I'm steering clear of it. I don't trust something that isn't reliable.

I wouldn't be too harsh. That's what Betas are for. You have to expect a few growing pains .

I just got the Beta version and am very impressed, I especially like the fact that you can search your own library. But i have on question...what is the .torrent stuff? What is a .torrent, what does it do... just curious.

A torrent is like a link to a downld file. You can often find links hosted at sites. But the actual files are usually shared by users. Try googling torrent links. Although there's some mentioned here.

Default New beta version

The new beta is bad. I used for about 3 days and deleted it. Got a bad virus from it. Never had that problem with Limewire.

[Sarcasm] And of course it's all Limewires fault, that you can't see the difference between a real file and a virus. Why didn't I think of that. It's very good that you pointed it out to all of the unsuspecting users, who actually thought the viruses were on the network. After reading this revelation I'll hurry and dump that mean Limewire Beta, that goes around giving everybody viruses.[/Sarcasm]

Limewire 4.12.3 / Newest Phex / Newest Azureus

I recommend using either an old Limewire version without BitTorrent support or Phex for Gnutella, Azureus is BitTorrent. None of this Limewire Gnutellatorrent hybrid crap.

I had no problems with limewire before I tried the beta version. I've been using limewire for about 5 years and never had a problem with viruses until I used the beta version
