There are a lot of unofficial limewire sites on the net, maybe you downloaded your version from a scam site...Just a thought..

Sounds like something else has got into your computer along the way..I've never heard of the actual limewire installer having any Malware with it...

Just to make sure you get all of the bugs off your computer once your scan is done, post at one of these sites, they will check and see if your system is completely clean...

New computer, you say?
And you havnt downloaded anything/much at all yet?
Not even antivirus/anti spyware programs?

Hmm... well, if you had left LW open and running all night, and you had an open internet conection all night, then its possible that your viruses may have not came from LW, but LW may have (or may have not, yet there still have been.... an open internet connection/port which someone/something had found a way into onto your PC, and downloaded malicious software (virii/spyware) onto your PC.
A pc with an open internet connection, especially a port, with not protection is a disaster waiting to happen.

You might want to check windows defender (or if you;re using mac, check it's defender program) and see if there is any open ports. You definatly want to choose the option of the defender being ON and blocking everything incoming- but go to exceptions, and allow such programs as limewire. Then, only those programs you allow will be allowed a connection to the internet.

Like previously said, LW isnt known to download such stuff unless the version of LW you downloaded was from a fake site, and was infected (which it had to have been made so by someone, then put on the net on a fake site)

But from what I read, it seems you have the real LW, and not infected.

Ive had LW for a long time, and the only virii that have come to my PC from it were those attached to a file I intentionally downloaded off LW.... which fortunatly, both LW and my antivirus program picked up the virus and eliminated it. (limeiwre picks up .exe files that try to install as soon as they are downloaded, and asks you if you want to or not to allow it, warning you it may contain infections)

So... yea- protect your PC.
I suggest if you do plan on being on the internet and/or using downloading programs, that you use antivirus programs AND anti spyware programs! Be sure to check the links gievn. Have these programs enabled at all times, and, have the ones that can perform scans to do so daily- preferably while you are in bed. My pc runs such programs at like 1 am.

Good luck.

Actually, I had a similar problem...
There is this "option" that opens when you visit sites that have this:

A video codec needs to be downloaded before you can view a video.
HOWEVER, you can HEAR the sound of it though...
If you accept, it's a trojan that goes by "Zlob" (zlob.trojan).

When I accidentally got this infection and tried using LW, I too had that issue.
Since Trojans love to target backdoor programs, it hit's LW too.
Just run virus scans/removers, and then reinstall any system files the computer needs, and THEN delete and redownload LW. It should work beautifully again.
