Maybe I'm just ignorant...

I wonder if anyone knows why I can't access the internet from my wi-fi phone through my wi-fi router like my laptop does?;) I'm already paying Verizon for DSL bandwidth why should t-mobile charge me when it uses my wi-fi to send my calls! Any suggestions welcome.

On a different topic, does anyone remember a older LW (I think it was a beta) that stored shared in a different spot with a name like my music or something? I'm trying to save files off a bad hard drive-I got most of them-but search is one of the bad program files, and the search my brain program is buggy at best.

Good to see a lot of long timers still here. Be well.

hi moteprime welcome back :)
For quite a few versions .. not sure when it started, you could set each media type to download to a separate location (& of course you could decide on title of folder). However that was a custom setting, not a default setting & is still available in the newer versions.
lol like your signature btw :D

One thought is to network your computer with another ... in a sense use your old computer like an external hard disk drive & search from the newer computer. Others would have better advice upon this.

as LOTR suggested hook the drive up in a new machine if possible..if the HDD is actually toast then do what you can...when I'm doing cleanup for whatever reason I just manually go through every folder and save what I want then delete the rest..when I end up with a clean slate then I know I'm done...

My understanding is that Wi-Fi mobile phones, like any other wi-fi equipment, should be able to access your wi-fi modem. However, you will need to have some additional software, like Skype (and a Skype account), so that you can make (almost free) contact with other Internet phone users.

Here is the URL: Skype - Make free calls and great value calls on the internet

Success..sort of

Well, I hoped maybe there was another way but I had to pull the drive and take it to...the parents house. You see they're in the late 70's...and they stand behind me watching in amazement the whole time. It drives me [B]nuts[B]. About four years back I upgraded the ram and they videotaped me! It took about 20 mins. to get the BIOS to admit the UNKNOWN DEVICE was in fact a hard drive it told me that it was operating way out of spec-duh-continue?y caused it to start chkdisc and 15 minutes of nail biting BAD SECTORs wah-la files! Not only did I manage to copy out all music folders (including some from Real-pos-Player I'd totally forgotten),but my firefox preferences http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Recovering+important+data+from+an+old+profileand LW 4.14.10 PRO.Then I burned my fingers removing the drive. OH WELL....On the phone issue I will definitely check further in Skype...the end of long distance put it on the back burner for me. The whole question seems to be one of those grey legal areas we know so well. But hidden in the dark recesses of the T-M site is a 9.99/mo. with 30 day free trial. That will let me download BOLT and go on from there. I hate to use software that is purposely crippled, which takes me off to another thread. Thank you all.

Skype is a fantastic way to do long-distance calls ... including overseas calls if the other person is also using Skype. Could also use camera I believe.
