I have pro and it said not to download it if you have pro, it automatically downloaded an update the other day (5.2.2) and since then the only thing that will download is music.

MidnightAngel July 13th, 2006 11:52 PM

I wish bearshare didnt do an update.

Mine seems to be going ok now.

I would help you if I could, but I dont have pro.

AaronWalkhouse July 14th, 2006 12:52 AM

I heard that imesh went the same way at the end. It stopped downloading
video files unless they were very small. It wouldn't surprise me if they made
the same fatal error with BearShare.

If you have pro and install any other version it will still recognize your license,
regardless of what the company may say. The beta will still have better
performance than Pro too.

I just uninstalled the pro and redownloaded an earlier version, so now it works fine.

AaronWalkhouse July 22nd, 2006 01:31 PM

They left out the adware. There was no point in rewriting the first page of the installer too.

Question for Aaron

i have downloaded the bearstart and the older version you have posted - do i remove the newer version of bearshare, install the expired version and open it with bear start?? i am going to try that - let me know if that is right, thanks, jd

AaronWalkhouse July 30th, 2006 06:27 PM

Just install B25 right over top of the existing version and your settings and
layouts will be preserved. The next time you start it (with BearStart) it will be
as if nothing had changed.

JD29 July 30th, 2006 06:42 PM

Thanks - i got it working

appreciate the quick response - did i understand correctly there is no adware on this version?

AaronWalkhouse July 30th, 2006 07:40 PM

Right. None.

There might be an occasional Fastclick popup ad caused by an embedded
webpage but you can easily prevent that by putting "www.bearshare.com" into
the Restricted Sites Zone with your Internet Settings control panel applet.
