bearshare lite and bearshare

what is the difference between the two?

Grandpa May 28th, 2006 03:57 PM

This question is better answered by Aaron but to my knowledge the only difference is BearShare containers spyware and BearShare Lite doesn't. When running them they both pretty much preform the same.

i mean the older version arron said to dl and the difference between bs lite. can i see screenshots or something. thanks

Unfortunately I am on the road and I don't have them on my laptop. The older version that Aaron is talking about allows more connections and is almost as good as LimeWire for me in the speed department and I am starting to think it might be better in the search department. But I am not done testing yet. So far about 5% of the time it will come up with more search results. It does contain spyware though but you can remove it and BearShare will still run. Aaron can explain it better than I can though.

the old one has spyware? does any of them have no spyware?

Grandpa May 28th, 2006 04:35 PM

BearShare Lite does not and the Pro version of BearShare didn't but I do not think it is available anymore. At least not any versions of it that you can be sure they are clean.

the old version that Aaron said has spyware? what about older ones besides the one Aaron?

Grandpa May 28th, 2006 04:51 PM

I don't know but I see you and Aaron are both using PM so I am assuming he is answering that question.:D

The ad-supported versions of 5.1.0 and earlier had the harmless and easily
removable WhenU Save! adware.

Apparently the iMesh company bought the BearShare franchise at about the
same time as the staged $30 million one-day "lawsuit" and paid the "settlement",
then promptly installed the Zango spyware in all versions, including "Lite". This
new version of BearShare starts hooking up to multiple spy sites in Florida and
Israel even as you start to install it and refuses to continue if you do not
permit the spying to continue.

what does when u save do? i hate ad ware it is so annoying. then eventually adware turns into spyware
