GnucDNA - latest version, source, discussion forums

Really simple questions:
What is the latest version of GnucDNA?
Is it open source or not?
Where can this source be downloaded? (if available)
Are there official development forums? (Didn't find anything on google; didn't try too hard :laugh_2:)

Hi OldDeath, GnucDNA's development ceased a long time ago, but it's still available at SourceForge and in fact it just works fine. It is indeed open source, under GNU LGPL IIRC (you can include it in proprietary applications, as long as you release the source code of the modified version of GnucDNA, not the whole application). Actually GnucDNA is part of the Gnucleus project and is designed to be the network core of Gnucleus and other applications as well. You can get the latest version along with its source code from Gnucleus HTH in some way.

So what is the latest version's number?

OldDeath October 19th, 2008 09:15 AM

the latest thing I can find on SF is v1.0.2.6 of GnucDNA and 2.0.2.0 of Gnucleus, while Gnucleus 2.2.0.0 (GnucDNA 1.1.1.6) can be found on the G2 crawler... so where the hell is their development???

Take a look at Gnucleus Daily Builds Home Page . Gnucleus 2.2.0.0 is a daily, whereas 2.0.2.0 is the stable version offered on the SourceForge download page.

I looked at that too. I suspect the web page automatically shows today's date. However the most recent version shown is a few years old, most stable most recent version a year older.

They stopped developing a long time ago, so their code might miss a lot of current features.

But why don't you just check their code repository?

SourceForge.net Repository - [gnucleus] Index of /

"R4" sounds like the most recent one.

OK, thx...
I asked this for two main reasons:
1. because I am filling-in some informations about G2 tech providers on wikipedia
2. because Gnucleus 2.2.0.0 is one of the few clients other than Shareaza having certain market-share on this network...

Hi

I downloaded the R4 code from CVS and built in visual studio 2003.
First gnucleus trying to update itself, output is "evolving in 15 sec". I need to cancel this operation otherwise it fails with assert.
Then Gnucleus shows dialog like it is trying to connect but actually it does not (no packets in witreshark).

Help->About shows

Gnucleus Version 2.0.3.1
GnucDNA version 1.2.0.0

Any hint whether it is latest version and why it does not run?
Regards
Moshiko

File_Girl71 would be the best one to ask about Gnucleus since she has worked with the program code. :)
