Looks like the answer is no.
I only have LW 5.3.6 installed on Windows 7 and despite having LW set to play audio files, WMP always opens to play an m4a file.

I did a test to change LW to play m4a & it errored with need Java 6. So I set LW.java file to open it & nothing happened when playing from LW's library.
I did a test to change the file extension to mp4 instead & LW thinks it's a video so WMP opened it again.

I checked the changelog & most improvements or bug fixes for the media player were for video. However:
LimeWire 5.6.0 Beta
* Update the audio and video player to handle all codec formats which are available on a system.

This is a problem that's been happening on & off for quite a while. All we can do is apologise.

With vista , my itunes always opens up to play m4a and then my lw closes down completely ;

luckily the vast majority of my lw songs are mp3 which the built in lw audio player replays without any problem .

Lemonwire is a clone of limewire ; but members using it should ban and block both ,

65.199.18.150 and 65.199.18.142 ;

they are robots downloading hundreds of songs every hour ; genuine members dont get a fair go ;

Well , yes i do always use universal plug and play because all music sharing programs seem to strongly advise it ; they say it makes the whole network more stable and faster ;

from memory the original winmx forum advised me to do some port forwarding , but i just found it so hard and complicated ;

Just blocking and banning that one host in message 20 has worked so far ; possibly only for a short while until the bad guys re program their evil robots ;
