New Client: Shareaza*

Shareaza appears to be a player in the Gnutella clients arena. It is supposed to be ad-free and spyware-free and boasts a nice feature set. Check it out here:

Thanks for the tip ;)

I am using it now, and it seems a very nifty package!
Time will tell more, obviously, but first impressions are very, very good.

I've only downloaded, though, so far. But hey, I've only had my shared files hashed for about 10 minutes

Wonder why they didn't call it Shareazad?
Guess they didn't want the word ad in their name! :p

Weirdness.......
I still have not uploaded anything, which is definitely not normal.
I usually average 10-20 uploaded files per hour......
Must be something that I have not yet properly configured

But, downloading like crazy! Amazing, really!

Anyone else out there with any experience using Shareaza?
I have a feeling that this one could quickly become popular.

no uploads here either.
but it sure is nice

Paradog June 20th, 2002 07:33 AM

I dont like the name :)
Shereazad would be better indeed

No uploads? - If that's true I'll be blocking that one as well as Qtrax.

Unregistered June 20th, 2002 04:32 PM

spams the network to get you those files

As usual for your posts, Mr. 64.24.x.x.x , you believe you have made some great point when in fact you are only displaying your arrogant ignorance. Let's see your evidence which you have personally collected and which you use to justify your comments here.
You are one of the bad one's around here who for some foolish reason believes himself to be anonymous. You are now tracked.
Cool it with the negativity. I said 'please' the first time I asked you this....... there will be no repeat of that word.

Don't understand why, but after having Shareaza running for about one hour, the uploads started - and they haven't stopped since then - it is working similar to Gnucleus for me in regards to uploads...... non-stop!
It's definitely no leech!
I think it's an Australian effort but with the site in Canada?
(Maybe to reduce ping time problems for the mass of users?)
Anyway, it sure is an interesting client..... still learning how to drive it!
Was there no pre-warning or notice that this was coming?

There are many things to like about it..... must be something wrong somewhere, hmmmmmm? ;)
Also note that there seems to be, in the hours I have been able to observe, a very much more general spread of connects to different clients..... no clustering or grouping! Nice.

Ursula, the God of this forum. What the hell was so wrong with my opinion of this client?
It's very obvious that it spams the network with more queries to get it's results. How else can it do this? Magic?
It's obvious to me, but since you are a "big wig" here, you should spend your time monitoring it to see how it gets these "great" results. I have better things to do and have done this way too many times to want to do it again, and no one cares anyway when you find this out because they all "just want their files".
So this time, you do it and let me know if anyone cares.
Yes you like this client, and now you won't let others post their opinion?
By the way, you are the one who is more anonymous here, I have no idea who or why they gave you moderator status, or who you are, or what your IP is but yet you get to know everything about everyone else here.
Power corrupts. I can't call you any names like you call me because you have the delete button, must be nice.
Also, where do we draw the line? What is too negative? Will you delete any post that has a strong opinion that isn't along the lines with yours?

Name calling, and personal attacks like the one you just made against me should not be tolerated. Strong opinions? That's just life. This thread is now logged, even if you edit it, there is a original.

By the way, a IP address only has FOUR numbers in it.

We have more than ONE moderator here... we all talk about what to delete and what not - and we NEVER will delete OPINIONS!

About your name callings, I donīt see them here, Ursula is a mod and has to respect the same rules, if not the posts will be edited too...

Have fun! :)
