Default I've had enuff... looking for an alternative to Shareaza

AAAARRRGGGHHH!!!!

I've had enuff... I'm looking for an alternative to Shareaza...

All I can say is that after running Shareaza 2.0.0.0 and 2.2.1.0 FLAWLESSLY with XP SP2 and only recently downloading the 2.2.5.0 Beta version...

I was previously REGULARLY getting download speeds in excess of 1 Meg/sec and now to have it reduced to less than 10 freakin' KB a sec with the 2.2.5.0 Beta Version I am not at all amused... ESPECIALLY when you can't just uninstall the 2.2.5.0 Beta and reinstall an earlier version as the Beta version apparently alters the Incomplete downloaded files so that they can not even be recognized by earlier versions of Shareaza...

In short the New Beta Version is a pile of crap and is to be avoided like the plague...

*sighs* nothing I can do about it now except look elsewhere for a DECENT P2P proggy that delivers what it promises and warn ANYONE AND EVERYONE I can to avoid Shareaza in future (a proggy i always used to like and used have links to the download site at both my business and personal sites, my blog and my own Forum - but NO MORE - I'll be removing them TODAY - and replacing them with the reason why I NO LONGER will recommend Shareaza to ANYONE!!!)

I dunno what the Developers of the 2.2.5.0 Beta Version got for their efforts - but I hope it was Life plus 20 Years!!!!

Soooo... *puff* *pant* *puff* ... anyone wanna recommend a WORKING freeware proggy that handles both P2P and torrents... ????

I would prefer spyware and adware free but that is not a pre-requesite as bu using Zone Alarm and Spybot Search and Destroy you can get rid of most of that crap the first time you run an infected proggy...

Soooo... Any suggested alternatives to Shareaza's latest BOTCHED offering????

Anonymous P2P has had it. It's finished. It's not only Shareaza but all the 'proggys' that were designed to share files in the days before professional sabateurs (software corps) moved in on the networks.

We have to borrow some ideas from ebay, from Shareaza and from Skype. We need a members-only-network and we need to be able to rate the members with feedback on files like 99.6% good files. We need end-to-end encryption, like Skype, so that file identities are known only to the parties transferring them. And we need a versatile and pretty user interface... like Shareaza!

I used to absolutely love Shareaza, and I am astounded at how horrible it has become. I loved it because it found way more stuff (videos, I'm talking about) than any other program, but for over a year, the problem was than it just wouldn't download anything. If I was lucky, I would complete 2 or 3 downloads in a week. And even though my router WAS configured correctly, exactly according to their instructions, I would get that damned message say that it wasn't configured correctly. So I trashed Shareaza and tried Limewire. For reasons that are a total mystery to me, Limewire doesn't find anywhere near as much as Shareaza (and if anyone cares to explain why this is to me, I'd appreciate it). So tonight, just for the hell of it, I tried Shareaza again and disscovered that they have a new version--version 4. What a piece of crap! It doesn't have half the features that previous versions did--or if it does, I can't find them--and it will not find any video bigger than 50 MB! What garbage and what a shame that they have self-destructed. As far as I'm concerned, there is NO good program anymore.

The version 4 you saw is a counterfeit and the old website has been stolen by the scammers.
Go to the official website ( Shareaza - Bringing P2P Together ) and see if version 2.3.0.0 is more to your liking.

Wow, thanks Aaron. That's a surprise and the last thing I expected. I'm pretty savvy about scams, but I fell for that one. Now I'm worried about what kind of spyware or virus I've infected my computer with. What *******s. There should be some sort of warning in this forum.

Yes, I saw that after I sent the reply. I didn't notice because it referred to shareaza.com and not shareaza 4.

long time i'm not visit this forum, today i want to make correction to my earlier post, shareaza is good p2p, as good as limewire, i'm using both software in my compter, along with µTorrent, but i'm not using all of them in the same time, before i'm struggle to make a good configuration to make shareaza download faster, i'm never give up, i read all post from this forum and sourceforge forum, but my dwload still slow, i configure all hardware n sfware (router, firewall, shareaza setting) but it doesnt help, but i'm not aware that a lot of my source from edonkey (slower network despite its have many source), for those who new with shareaza, if u already configure shareaza, router or firewall very well, and still has slow download be patience n wait, because when we use shareaza its has 3 network, shareaza network n limewire network is fast, n edonkey network is slow, so u should observe what network ur file dwload from, n other like ur ISP limit bandwidth etc...u can check it here

Default the bottom of line

my friend he4re is the botom of line of all of this :
  1. gnutella has less users than edonkey so gnutella is faster
  2. edonkey has much more users than ne network so it has almost everything but... its slower
  3. lime wire , bear share , cabos..... etc use just gnutella network so u can download very fast from them (notice that lime wire use bittorrent protocol also and this 1 is the fastest child of all).
  4. sheraza use both gnutella and edonkey so if u have user in queue belongs to gnutella u will notice that u download faster from him and the opposite for edonkey .
  5. the last thing try to rise your upload ratio a little bit it will help believe me
thank u my friend hope u will find your answer .

How do you raise your upload ratio? Is there a webpage that gives the 101 on using this technology? I'm stumbling around in the dark here....,

Thanks much!!

To raise upload ratios just keep the software running permanently.
This applies to all of the different kinds of sharing software.
