Moderators

There are senior members on the forums who serve as Moderators. These volunteers keep the board organized and moving.
Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity)
Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum.
Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules.
Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted.
Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender.
Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration.

The Rules

1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement.

2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures.

3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum.

4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks.

5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement.

6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem.

7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required.

8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning.

9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online.

10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents.

11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection.

12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban.

13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts.

14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam.

15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues.

Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis.

Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community.

Default I got SCAMMED! Goodbye $70!!

Does anybody (including moderaters) know anything about a company called
“EUCLID NETWORKS” (LOCATION: BASSETERRE, ST-KITTS, WEST INDIES)?

I recently attempted to download "Limewire". I "googled" it and it gave me a list of sites to dowload it from, including one site in the "Sponsored Links" section (highlighted at the top of the first page) that eventually scammed me.

Heres the link: http://www.download-it-free.com/limewire/

The site was kitted out with "Limewire" colours and logo's, and the download section even stated that I would be downloading "LimeWire 5.5" (Please note the capital "W"). I proceeded to the checkout to finalise the order by credit card and discoved that the bill had come to $51.29USD ($67.37AUD).
This price included, quote:

"Lifetime Full & Unlimited Access for a total of 23.46 $ USD
Pro Version for a total of 12.95 $ USD
NetSpyProtector Option - Protect yourself from malware for a total of 14.88 $ USD"

I was originally under the impression that the download was free ("download-it-free"), but as I was keen to get this thing up and running, went ahead with the transaction thinking to myself that it was a small price to pay for unlimited downloads.

I was then directed, from a link that was sent to my email inbox, to a site by the name of the "Music Members Area"....No sign of the "Limewire" logo here. Surprise, Surprise! I completed the download and was surprised and angered to see that the software I had just bought was not "Limewire" at all...it was in fact a piece of software called "360 Share Pro"...Not what I paid for!!!

Not only was it not what I paid for, but even with Java uptes, it dosen't even launch! I've not only paid $70AUD for a piece of software that I was delibrately (mis) led to believe was "Limewire", but that dosen't even work!!!

How does a company of your status, let companies such as this ruin your credibility and get away with deliberately false or misleading advertising (Taking into account the small print and smallest differences in spelling of product name) of your products ??

Am I the only one, or has this happened to other people aswell??

What can I do about getting this company shut down??

Or more to the point, what can Gnutella do to get them shut down?? Anything?? Or are they "legally" (due to small technicalities) allowed to trade like this?

I realise I've been scammed and there is probably little to no chance of getting my money back (no contact information or links on the site and company not listed in the West Indies business directory) but is there any other way, apart from this site and "Consumer Affairs Australia", that I can lodge a complaint on this operation/scam?

Any advice, comments, or similar stories would be great.

Cheers,
Dallas (Melbourne, Australia)

Sorry to hear you've been scammed. Have a look through these 2 threads, the first one's an epic but it's got heaps of info & (I think) a list of known scam sites
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=28751

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=44499

The second one has info about getting your money back, lots of good advice from people who've done it. It's worth reading, you never know... might help you.
Make sure to let your bank/CC company know straight away, they might be able to cancel your transaction. Most have a department that deals with fraud/scams.

LimeWire's open source, so anyone can get hold of the source code. Unfortunately this includes scammers!
If the crap version you have doesn't work, get rid of it. I'd advise you to get rid of it anyway... you never know what malware might have been included. If you want to download LW basic (free), get it from the official site here
http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml
That way, you'll get a clean version!

This one got a phonenumber

Looks like the same deal as well

Do some checking before calling since they will no doubt try to claim that they are legit. But do it fast or they will no doubt go with the timelimit

Hey guys,

Thanks for the help and the links. I called my the complaints department for my credit card provider but they said they cant do anything about reversing internet based transactions. However...the lady that i spoke to quoted me what she thought was a billing code from the transaction details, which shortly after, was advised by her supervisor that it wasn't a code, but was actually a phone number.

I ended up getting "360 Share Pro" to work thanks to a download of the current version of Java, however I still believe I was scammed (false advertising which led me to believe I was purchasing Limewire...and for a much higher price might I add) so I'm still going to try and get my money back. I'm also going to report the company to any organisations that I can get a hold of in an attempt to shut them down (or at least ammend thier blatantly misleading advertising methods), in a bid to prevent how ever many thousands of other people like myself from being scammed. I suggest anyone else who's been "duped" like myself to do the same...Power in numbers!!!!

The phone number is as follows (and don't quote me on this. I'm not 100% sure):

(0011) : Or whatever the number is to get out of your country.

Followed by:
888-846-9590
(I've just seperated it so its easier to read)

...This should get you through to the company in question (Euclid Networks, Bassettere, St-Kitts, West Indies)

Although they'll probably change it if they read this post.

Cheers, D.C.

What do you guys make of this? Any conspiracy theories, or is this extract of text exactly what it looks like (to me)?

I'll fill you in with a few details before you read it. I went to run this program they call 360 Share "Pro" (the one they pass off as Limewire at download-it-free.com. See previous posts) and it said it couldn't load because of an internal error. I clicked the review button to see what this problem was and this is the first paragraph of text that came up in the "error message".

Now if thier going to shut the program down because I'm giving my honest opinion of it (or more importantly, on them) in this forum then I definately want to get my money back. What ever happened to freedom of speech??

...They've obviously developed a program to scan threads like this one....why would they go to the lengths of doing that if they were doing nothing wrong, and had nothing to hide?....Say no more!

Anyway, heres the extract from the error message. Make of it what you will...but it dosent take a genius to figure it out!

Try removing your current version of Java & reinstall the JRE using the offline installer here
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

That's a Java error... I don't think there's anything suspicious about it

Euclid Networks is connected to or is the same as Euclid Networks Inc, which may be connected to Euclid Inc, this being a company begun by Andra Delip Kumar, CEO of Euclid India Ltd. although it is reported that Rao Cherukuri is the founder and chairman of Euclid Networks. Then there is also, or was, Euclid Network Solutions Inc. Read about the company at http://www.rediff.com/computer/1999/ oct/16euclid.htm . A news report from Bangalore some years ago reported that “network service provider Euclid India Ltd. is to merge with the US-based Euclid Network Solutions. This will make the Indian company a wholly-owned subsidiary of the US firm. Clearance from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board is awaited” A common theme of sites run by Euclid Networks is the lack of any contact details until money has changed hands. It would appear to be connected with:
NetFreeMovies.com
TV-All-Free.com
NetFreeGames.com
NetGamesNow.com
AccessMp3Music.com (which describes itself as “the largest p2p network”)
FreeAccessMp3.com
iMusicAccess.com
iMusicNow.com
Mp3-All-Free.com
Mp3JustFree.com
Mp3RealMusic.com
MusicJustFree.com
NetFreeMp3.com
Download-it-free.com
A company called YottaCash.com is a wholly-owned and operated arm of Euclid Networks.
All these companies seem to have the same theme but you have to read the small print - they provide (or tell you how to get) other organisation’s programs, including Limewire, and charge you for the privilege. The small print on ‘Movies-All-Free” for example has a clause “The software is free. You are paying for the online help and support and the online tutorials for the lifetime of the membership”(the 'lifetime' time of the membership is not given). The trouble is that when you are looking for Limewire for the first time and you come across one of these sites you don’t know its not the right site; by the time you do you have paid your money. There is also a similar site, Mp3MusicDownload, where the footer reads “Legal Advise about using P2P networks and Disclaimer, Billing by SOP R&M, St-Kitts, BasseTerre, 1823 Bay Road.”. Note the misspelling of the word “Advice” and the fact that they are from the same street as Euclid Networks. Another company using the same address, 1823 Bay Road, Basseterre is Nextdaysoma.com, an on-line drug company. The address may be a PO Box - the billing for Nextdaysoma.com goes to Manama International Limited, C18 The Sands, PO Box 1823 Bay Road & George Street, Basseterre St. Kitts. The telephone number 1- 888-846-9590 at the start of this thread is the same number as that used by a company called Downloadinghome.com, a site owned by Mp3Networks, St Kitts. Accessing site www.euclidnet.com/company/board.html results in “Page Cannot Be Displayed”.

Well TezL

The info that you have found says it all, this company and it's multitude of offspings are dedicated to one thing and one thing only, ripping off gullible people.

Mind you, the ones that get ripped off tend to have a "go go, do or die" attitude rather than a "look before you leap" one.

Still, for anyone who like to "look before they leap" check this old saying out:
Quote:
There's gold in a fool's pocket, there's lots of it and its easier to get.
and this company Euclid plans to mine that gold.

Thumbs up Thanks!

Brief note to thank all the posters in this thread:

I found this thread via a Google search for "netgamesnow complaint", since I was thinking of downloading from NetGamesNow. I've found this precautionary "caveat emptor" search procedure useful, to say the least.

NetGamesNow seemed bogus to me for one reason - you can't browse or search their selection UNTIL YOU PAY. Even if they were on the level, I'd never deal with them because nearly every vendor on the web allows you to shop before ordering (or paying). The info in this thread convinced me "better safe than sorry", so I'm not dealing with them.

I know this isn't helpful technically, and if it's inappropriate, feel free to delete it, but I wanted you to know your time and efforts help, and do count for something.

Thanks again!

Angry People not sharing

Hello, I just recently started using this site and i'm very pleased with the selection of music here so much so that I would like to go pro just out of appreciation for Lime Wire. But there is one thing that really gets me very angry and that is when you see people uploading from your computer who are not sharing their music, it angers me because that is how the site works by everyone sharing what they have so how can anyone want to take but not give. I would like to see the site changed so everyone has to share there should not be a choice of not sharing especially if you haven't went pro.
