These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned.  UNREGISTERED members? how come when i first started this forum , i was told that in order to participate in ANY of these forums, i would HAVE TO REGISTER? obviously that isn't the case because it seems the ONLY people out there using these forums are 89% UNREGISTERED!!! half of them have more to offer than some of the moderators/developers! GO FIGURE! what really burns me up is that NOBODY takes the time to explain or help anyone having real problems with limewire in these forums. the threads are read dozens of times but never answered, meanwhile you got all these UNREGISTERED people discussing all this "way over my head" gnutella stuff so you KNOW they could've probably helped a few people with their giant "gnutella gnowledge" but GNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!  |

 thanks, kath! i appreciate the fact that you actually take the time to answer (my) posts! it really means a lot to those of us who aren't quite sure what's going on all the time...i like your well-thought-out posts and your personality...too bad you're so many miles away! it would be great to chat about limewire over a cup a joe someday!!!  anyway, thanks again for pulling the weight of the rest of those slack-*** forum "members". i'll do what i can to answer the easy ones!!! |

 Well, generally any problem you could have has already been experienced by other people, so it would be advisable to take some time and check if it hasn't been posted yet. Of course, that does not mean your post should not be replied. Everybody helps with what each of us can, that's the idea of these forums. | Hi! Lw uses the same port for incoming and outgoing connections... You can change this under tools/options/advanced/port... the standard port for all Gnutella clients is 6346! Note: I am using 1.9 so the path can be different... Good luck! Morgwen |

| thanks, but i don't think i can change the port number on the advanced page. it is set to 6346 and will not allow me to change it. i still get an error message telling me to specify...i am using 1.6.  |

| Hi mlledes! I think I know what your problem is. LimeWire 1.6x is notorious for gnet connection problems and incoming port # errors. These errors were, for the most part, the result of java 1.1 vs 1.3.1 Java Run Time Enviroment conflicts within the LimeWire software. There was a link to a temporary patched version, but this has since been taken down (Version 1.6 is a bit old). If you don't mind downloading a newer version, the problem has been fixed in 1.7 and above. I recommend LimeWire 1.7c. It doesn't have any ads or spyware, like 1.8 and 1.9 do (please, no flaming here about this - start a new thread if you want to). | sorry, but can you tell me what this means?: "(please, no flaming here about this - start a new thread if you want to)." what's flaming? like i said, i downloaded 1.7 but i'm not sure i got the right one for my OS. i haven't installed it yet because i wanted someone to tell me if i got the right version first. the files read: limewirewin1 limewirewinNovm i am using windows ME. any help is mucho appreciated! | FLAMING definition Here's a little explanation: There are other people who are reading this thread, and a common thing to argue and fight about, or flame, is whether or not LimeWire contains spyware. Whenever there are mentions of it on the forums, people tend to get riled up too quickly, and before you know it, people are flaming. I said "(please, no flaming here about this - start a new thread if you want to)" because I did not want people posting about this topic. If they wished to do so, I wanted them to do it on another thread. :-) So, this was not directed towards you, but to other people reading on the forum. Sorry I didn't make that clear before.
