Burn VLC media file to CD-R? Hi, Most of my movies/video are VLC media files, so it will open in that program. I tried to burn a few (not all at once), but I keep getting an error message saying there are either errors in the file (but they play fine) OR are missing burn rights. I was trying to burn with Windows Media Player. I only want to burn to a CD, so they will play on my computer. I don't know if there is anything I can do to burn them, or if they are all a lost cause? I am new at this sort of thing, so "Burning for Idiots" would be great! LOL Thank you! |
The VLC logo that you see with those files appears only because the VLC player has become your default player for those file types. The real types of video and/or movie files are most likely "avi" or "mpeg". The "missing burn rights" stuff might occur due to the picky Windows media player. I'd reckon to convert the files with an external converter and then try nto burn it again with the CD Burn function of the WMP. A good program to convert those files ( I actually assume them to be .avi types) would be the Super Converter, a free program downloadable from here: http://www.erightsoft.net/S5E01.html Convert the file(s) to VCD Compliant, that should do it..... :Smilywais: |
Download link? Thanks for that info! I'll give it a try! Just one more thing though, what format should I convert to? Thanks for your help! |
Read my last sentence of my first post....... In case you're running in trouble you could also convert them to mpeg... But I have found out that using the VCD Compliant (or DVD in my case) save you the encoding time of the burning program (at least it saved it for me with Nero Express Burning).... :Smilywais: |
Thanks! Duh!!!! Didn't see that last line. Thank you! |
i've done everything you said but it seems like when i try to add multimedia files, my movies that plays in the vlc media player is not viewable.....can someone help plz |
Maybe you have to check the file with G-Spot to see what codecs were used to compress it: G-Spot (free) What burnin g program are you using to burn them to DVD? :Smilywais: |
