To pause Kaspersky right click on the icon on the bottom right side of your screen (by your clock) and left click pause protection. After installing UNPAUSE it! you should be good to go:)

Thank you Niagara Red-I've been dealing with this problem for over a day and a morning, it was driving me crazy. I thought it was Vista because I had Java 6 (which was not suppose to be the problem). I'm glad I came across your messages. Thank you . I will keep other future issues in mind regarding Kapersky.

Thanks all. Yep pausing KAV solves the problem although why the antivirus interferes with the installation is mystifying.

Use frostwire.com instead. Same search engine and same results! I struggled with my computer a couple hours and was so relieved to find another solution:)

It was my antivirus software. I also have kaspersky and i just paused my protection and it worked just fine for my LW install. I had to save it to my desktop and not just run it. Not sure if it will work for other AV's but it worked for me

Image sample of what to do if running Kaspersky or other firewall that causes the "Could not open input file for splittet files" problem. Right-click the firewall icon at bottom right side of Tray to open up Kaspersky options. The sample image is in 3 parts, (1) Pause option, (2) for how long to Pause (manual is my choice), (3) continue/Resume Kaspersky protection.
Install LW after Pausing Kaspersky. Then unpause Kaspersky.
In my example is shows Parallels Protection, this is in fact Kaspersky! :)

Pause Kaspersky (KAV)

Yes, I was able to successfully avoid the spitting file error by pausing my Kaspersky Anti Virus app during installation.

Thanks! :Smilywais:
