how to build a network

Now i want to build a private network according to the Phex's build and run.txt , and i have downloaded the GnutellaWebcache code which is coded using the Perl , but it is said that when i run this script on a webserve , i can't stop it ,can't we turn on my computer the whole day?

so,i want to integrate the script under the VM,can this could stop if i turn off the VM??

what do a terminal must do if it want to be a webserver??

Uh... that would be a bit more text and research than I can do in one evening...

Why don't you try
a) getting a hoster who does php and getting a php GWebCache and
b) using a subdomain for the GWebCache looking somewhat like phexgc001.domain.dad or
c) using google.com to determine how to turn your Computer into a WebServer

Gregor does have a GWebCache Script running, which only allows Phex in, so that could be a good start (mine still doesn't work as it should).

Did you read the guide on private networks?

yes,i have read that private introduction in the project ,and now i have set up a webcache using the Java Servlet build in the Tomcat .
Now,i don't know if i should apply a url for the public ,i just want it to help me test my own code which simulate the protocol!!and if i don't use this cache in public ,how could i insert a vertual node in the cache?
and the other question is does the whole node stored in the Gwebcache is UP, or stored both the UP and Leaf??

Just check what you see in there. I don't know your specific GWebCache.

UP or Leaf is just the operating mode, which can change, even after the node is in the GWC, so you (and all others) just don't know. And some clients try to send fake IPs, or don't care about specs, so it ight be best to assume it's a mix of UPs and Leafs.

buptkang December 5th, 2005 04:50 AM

but if the UP become a leaf suddenly , if the cache update itself by a UP, the cache itself could remove the leaf node from it , so everytime, there are only UP in the cache. could it be right or not??
that GWebcache is implemented by the Java Servlet which i download from www.gncleus/Gwebcache ,there are some other version ,such as PHP , or Perl ,but i choose the java Servlet!!

It wouldn't know that, because the UP whch becomes a Leaf doesn't tell the cache.

Only the clients who use the IPs check, if they are valid. At least iirc.

Anything else would likely consume too much CPU and bandwidth.

buptkang December 5th, 2005 07:53 PM

what is iirc mean ?i don't know.

arne_bab December 6th, 2005 02:38 AM

iirc = if i recall correctly

Did it work for you?
