There are a small number of karaoke videos floating around on the net, but if you want to get a serious number of karaoke songs, you should try .kar files (midi files with lyrics sometimes also available with the extension .mid or .midi).

Personally, I use "VanBasco's Karaoke Player" which you can download for free at www.vanbasco.com which also offers a nifty search engine for aforementioned midi files with or without lyrics.

you need a programme like swift elite or tricerasoft to show the file and you need zipped or bin files depending on the player

Dowloading karaoke

Downloading karaoke is not as simple as going to a site like Limewire where you can just request a title and in no time at all it's coming to your computer.
The only way I know of doing it is through IRC and it's not something that I can explain it to you in this forum.
I've been involved with IRC for several years and I've been able to build up a rather large library. I have put together a comprehensive manual to guide even the most novice in getting set up and start downloading in no time at all.
Contact me if you are interested.
BTW, in case you're wondering, it hasn't cost me anything for all my downloads.

Hi,
I've just read your post and would be interested in finding out more about IRC and how I could download backing tracks from it. Could you perhaps help? Thanks Sue

File types

What you're looking for is a pair of files ! One has an .mp3 ext and the other a .cdg ext. Both with EXACTLY the same song name. The first is the audio w/o lyrics and the second is the video. Try isohunt.com for one and start looking for torrents. There is a whole bunch out there ! THX & Happy Hunting JF

Karaoke File

Ok, folks well I have some Karaoke file on my home PC, they come in bin or cdg formats, they are a bit large, being that is is just some music with graphics.

I use some programs found on the net to play them, such as Siglos Karaoke Player/Recorder for playing the file or Power CD+G Burner for burning a few songs to a CD or even better Karaoke DVD Burner, you can find them here
powerkaraoke.com, this in not way is a promotion for this site. just that this is what I use.

Karaoke songs that work with the show presenter program

i have all updated songs

rockinon July 6th, 2010 05:55 PM

The most common Karaoke format is actually 2 files. There is an mp3 and an accompanying cdg file. When you use video DJ software such as Virtual DJ or PCDJ, you just need to have both files within the same folder. When you use DJ software you can play just a mp3 for music alone or you can select a cdg file to get both the lyrics and the music. CDG is actually the format that comes on most Karaoke CDs. And any good DJ program is able to play from CD or from files on your hard drive. There is even software for converting your Karaoke CDs to MP3+CDG.

Whew. Now that I got through that, I have thousands of files ready for download and I am seeking others who would like to share.
