More sources needed, tried everything I can find

OK, I have the $20 version of Limewire. I have been going through the posts all morning, looking for something to help me with this, and I think it's because I am on a router, and I know how to port forward, I just don't know the settings.

I am on comcast.
I have a NetGear router.
I have enabled the force port in the firewall settings and chosen it as 6346.
I am on a static IP, because the automatic doesn't allow me to connect to the internet on our home network.

Now. I read about the RAZA. Unfortunatly I got this P2P for only one reason - I want to dl the [Edit] books in pdf format because they're out of print and people are selling them for way more than they are worth. I can only find them on RAZA.

SO, I dl the Shareaza software, thinking it will be better to dl from the source. I am having the same problem there where it is in a perpetual state of "pending". Their help site actually TOLD me how to get the port forwarding to work, gave me the server name, the port (also 6346) and then I put in my IP address, which I think is 198.168.0.4 (at least that is what it is in my network settings under IP and DNS). I even pushed the port on Shareaza. It still isn't working.

I also use Mammouth, for music downloads, which has been working fine, but they don't seem to have the pdfs I need.

How do I make this work to have my life be happy so I can download a few books and then be on my way?

First, there is advantage in forcing your port unless you setup your Router to do port forwarding. If you didn't configure your router properly, forcing your port may have some unexpected side effects.
To configure your router for Gnutella see here:

Don't expect the same performance from a p2p client that you get from e.g. a Web Browser. Try downloading all files you can find containing these keywords and check back after an hour or so. If they did not download, search for the same keywords again and try downloading the results again. Some files should eventualy download, - but it may take several hours up to a few days to complete these downloads because the people sharing it frequently disconnect from Gnutella when you are in the middle of a download.

I am surprised that you report problems with finding eBooks...

I share approx 2,800 ebooks now... Not all at one time as that is crazy, but I do rotate through them in blocks of about 500 being shared at any one time...

At least 1,400 of them are .pdf...

My sharing volume is nothing in comparison to a few out there...
I know one guy sharing over 8,500 eBooks... ALL of them at the same time... HE is VERY hard to grab as far as slots are concerned.

Regarding 'sources' for eBooks, I find that only Gnutella Network and a selection of DC hubs are really worthwhile...

Labelling, in almost all types of files, seems to be becoming worse and worse these days... So, you may want to try other search arguments... Have you tried simply .pdf ? And then, WAIT... I routinely have returns of over 14,000 .pdf files...

Good idea to filter out: temp, sex, erotic, erotik, wicca, comic, comix, engineering, physics, etc.,etc.

Patience is required, honest... I've had eBooks in pending downloads for over 4 months... Wake up one morning and, "WOW, it's there !" Happens all the time...

Don't give up !
Share the gems you do find !
