VERY SUSPICIOUS Search Results....PLEASE READ

Hi

I just wanted to let you all know that there is a user on LimeWire that has some how figured out how to pop up results on searches by the exact way you type it out. For example, I did a search on a karaoke song and here is how it went....

Not exact words I used, just example:

Search words: Karaoke John Cougar

Result: Karaoke John Cougar modem

Search words: john cougar karaoke

Result: john cougar karaoke modem

Search words: cougar karaoke cougar

Result: cougar karaoke cougar modem

Get what I'm saying here.....

Anybody else ever had this happen to them.... I, of course, did NOT attempt to download any of these......

Would love some feedback. Thanks!

I agree

I have noticed that many times i do a search and somthing pops up repeatedly with almost exactly what i searched for. I have AVG antivirus so am very confident it can catch any virus so i often try downloading such files and 10 out of 10 times they are zip files with one file inside named "setup" and are usually around 800 kb in size. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THESE FILES THEY ARE VIRUSES.

I suggest you download a good antivirus like AVG (its free, google it "AVG free edition") because every time i even start downloading i get a message "you have a virus, trojan whatever" and if i choose to leave it when i open the zip file i get another "trojan alert" message. Still have not tried to run said "setup.exe" file dont know what happens after that but i really dont care to try.

In short, there are many viruses and trojans and stuff out there if you see multiple files with the exact same filesize (usually around 800kb) then leave them be.

There i said it my 10 cents worth. Give me your feedback.

Thanks

Very helpful information, appreciate it. I'm new to this whole sharing files thing. I did have AVAST antivirus but it continually locked up my computer... I have the highest speed cable that the local company has to offer, and it slowed my downloads down tremendously. I'll give the AVG a try and will keep my eyes peeled for those 800 kb files.

Thanks again~

Just for fun, type in your name in search and see what happens...although don't download any results!

How good it is to see a thread on this subject that is posted by sensible people and not the ranters and ravers who are blaming Limewire for being a distributor of viruses and the like. There are a lot of posts on this type of topic and you can search for them using the search feature above right, and the following link is to a sticky on the subject at the top of the forum ... Oh you've probably found this stuff out already
