You mean 5.2, of course. :p

This sounds like a software problem in Windows' networking components.
Grab BearDiag and post a report. You may have to split it or zip it up
and attach it if the forum complains about the message length.

UGH, THE SAME THING KEEPS HAPPENING TO ME! But, it won't even stay open for me for 10 seconds. I open it..it closes within five seconds. Okay, this is really starting to **** me off! I have BearShare Lite 5.2.5.

I DON'T HAVE ANY FIREWALLS OR ANTI-VIRUS RUNNING WHEN THIS HAPPENS! UGH!!

I closed EVERYTHING. This is making me really angry. BearShare was the best program I've ever had. The BearShare diagnosis did NOTHING for me. Those versions won't work. This SUCKS. I'm stuck using freaking FrostWire, which is exactly like LimeWire and I HATE IT!

My OS is Windows XP Media Center, Service Pack 2.. 2.8 GHz, 512 RAM, and a Pentium D CPU. What the HELL is wrong with BearShare and my computer?! UGH. I reinstalled my OS COMPLETELY without any virus protection or anything else on it but BearShare..and it STILL did the same thing!! ARRRRGHHHH

I've attached my results.

My best guess is that your library files have been damaged. You should separate
your downloads from your shared files anyway, so that the library doesn't bloat and
break down again. In freepeers.ini (C:\Program Files\BearShare\FreePeers.ini) change
the Completed downloads folder (C:\Documents and Settings\Andy\My
Documents\My Music\) to something else like "C:\My Downloads". Then, in the
/db/ folder:
Code:

Directory of C:\Program Files\BearShare\db

07/08/2007  07:22 PM    <DIR>          .
07/08/2007  07:22 PM    <DIR>          ..
07/08/2007  07:22 PM        1,380,942 BearShareHostiles.zip
05/26/2007  12:10 AM            3,103 config.bin
07/08/2007  07:02 PM          165,883 connect.txt
07/08/2007  06:43 PM            1,163 gwebcache.dat
05/28/2007  02:37 PM            3,768 Hostiles.old
07/04/2007  01:48 AM        12,810,078 Hostiles.txt
07/08/2007  06:43 PM                0 Hostiles-Chat.txt
07/08/2007  07:07 PM        3,777,536 library.2.db <-- delete this
07/08/2007  07:02 PM        3,776,512 library.2.db.lastgoodload.bak  <-- replace with this
07/08/2007  07:07 PM        3,777,536 library.db  <-- delete this
07/08/2007  07:02 PM        3,776,512 library.db.lastgoodload.bak  <-- replace with this

07/08/2007  06:43 PM                19 searches.ini
              12 File(s)    29,473,052 bytes
              2 Dir(s)  66,674,749,440 bytes free

If BearShare starts working again, add your music back in the library, if you wish.
If not, delete the rest of the Library files and try again.
