Once you have downloaded....

Hi folks.
I am new to this forum, so i'll start by saying a big hello to everyone!.
I have two questions. First, once you have downloaded a movie via bearshare, what is the process of getting them onto a blank dvd?.
Secondly, is there a way of getting a few movies onto one dvd disc?.
Any help would be grately appreciated.
Thanks!. :-)

Hi and welcome...

Can we start by asking you to say what version of BearShare you are using ?

And, please look in the http://www.gnutellaforums.com/tips-tricks/ forum here for many threads and posts where you will find all the info you could need re: burning DVDs...

A hint... If you want to be able to burn more than one movie on to a DVD that will actually play in most newer 'home' players and not just on a computer, try converting the movie files to mpeg4 and then burn them to DVD... That is not the only way but it is a relatively simple one...

Hi ursula.
I will have a look at that thread you mentioned. The version of Bearshare i am using is 5.2.2.
Thanks for your quick response! :-)

Phew !!!!!

I was afraid you may bee another victim of the version 6 garbage !

Adasel September 19th, 2007 09:27 AM

lol!
Well, i'm trying this version, but its damned slow. Attempting to download applications that are like 346,579,019 in size. Takes like 10 minutes to even get to 2%, thats even with trying different sources etc.
I'm not sure if im allowed to say what application it is i am downloading, but any tips would be great!. :)
p.s i have also disabled the firewalls etc to help increase speed.

Wow, use your firewall !
It shouldn't do anything to your 'speed'.
Is this 'slow' problem universal or only for certain files ?
You may be D/Ling bad files...
Have a look around these forums for more info on the problems with some of the many many bad or false files that are now being 'shared' everywhere.

The version of BS you are using is not 'slow'... It is not the culprit !

But, you should tell us all about your internet connection...
ISP
and connection type...

?

Adasel September 19th, 2007 09:53 AM

okay, my ISP is BT Internet, a uk based provider. I'm using a broadband connection suposedly running at 6.7 Mbps. Its all connected via a USB modem, so no WI-FI involved.
I just attempted to download a music track and it took nearly 10 mins :O

ursula September 19th, 2007 09:59 AM

BT, eh !

Sorry !

Have a good look around these forums... all over I mean... perhaps you are being 'capped' by BT... There are many many posts here about problems with ISPs 'capping' p2p users and BT is certainly guilty of doing it... Perhaps they are not the worst in the disUK but they are still BT...!!!

Also, if you are not happy with BS 5.2.2 , try the last/best beta that was released...
See the thread on same in these BS Forums...

Will do, thanks very much for your time and patience :))
I found this article from 2001 : BT admits to bandwidth restrictions for file-sharing sites | The Register
I know its old, but thought you might find it interesting, or if any BT users out there having similar problems can post here and let me know :)
Thanks
