Bearshare Keeps Shutting Down

I haven't had any issues with Bearshare until recently. I downloaded Steam, which is used to download games, and for some reason Bearshare will continually shut down. I uninstalled both Bearshare and Steam and even tried putting them on different drives but it still does the exact same thing. The only way I can get Bearshare to work correctly is if I uninstall Steam. I already posted a topic on the Steam forum and they said there shouldn't be an issue and I should update Bearshare. Both Steam and Bearshare are up to date so I would really appreciate it if anyone has any help for me. Thank you.

Which version BearShare are you using may I ask?

Ouch! In general we do not give support for those versions of BearShare, only the earlier Gnutella version which was version 5 and earlier. BearShare now runs on its own semi-commercial network and has different owners. I am aware that BearShare limits what a person can download, so perhaps there's some kind of scripting conflict with a conflict of interests between them.

Well that really sucks. I looked into downloading an earlier version of Bearshare but I couldn't find anything on it. Can you point me in the right direction?

This is probably the best place to start A technique for connecting with BearShare (top of page has link to downloading the BearShare 5.1 beta version which was equivalent to Pro, and the link at bottom of page for connection fixes you will also need.)
