Bearshare sending SPAM / UCE
 

Today I got again an email from <listadmin@freepeers.com>:
"Dear BearShare User, Thank you for using BearShare software. This is your last chance to purchase BearShare Pro at our special promotional price that we’re offering exclusively to our BearShare.net members only. [...]"

Please stop it. You have used my email adress I gave you on subscribing the Bearshare.net forums, I didnt allow to send me UCE (Unsolicited Commercial Email). I never asked to be a customer. This behaviour is really what makes me think twice before signing up on a forum. I couldn't even unsubscribe with the given link... please tell me I'm not subscribed to various spam lists now?

We made the offer to recognize the people who have been helpful with the newcomers and those who helped with our alpha and beta testing.

This is part of a new direction where we are trying the make the USER the customer (rather than the advertisers).

Bearshare is VERY expensive I think $19,95 is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar to much for such a crappy product.

I like to be cheap and use better and FREE clients. :p

There is already a free version of BearShare, you don't have to pay it if you don't want to.

Some people just dont get it
 

Your right Kaapeli, there is a free version, but many people dont pay attention during the install and install adware.

Some people just like to know on Bearshare because they are just jealous :)

That is just one opinion, everyone has their own favourite client. If you don't give reasons for your opinions, it will remain just an your opinion.


And bact to the subject.. There is always also a 100% bundle free beta available of the next version of BearShare. That is a good alternative for the free release. It just requires more work since you need to update it frequently and there is always bigger risk that it contains bugs. But this version is my choice :)

I would never pay for Bearshare Pro because there are better Gnutella clients than Bearshare and they are 100% free and 100% free of spyware, adware and such. Why pay for something when you can have something better, free. I guess i'll never understand.
