What is legal?
Bearshare is legal. But you can do illegal things with it, for instance if you are downloading copyrighted content. But that is up to you. Bearshare is a tool, you can do legal AND illegal things with it.

Oh, so we can get prosecuted while Limewire sits back and relaxes......awesome.........

Nobody's asking you to use Limewire, Bearshare, or any other p2p application. Of course, you can do illegal things with them, but you can also do them with almost any other program that connects to the Internet.

For example, you can share your music files (copyrighted or not) using an instant messenger or an irc client as well.

Hey, I just had an idea! I am a law student, and an avid Metallica fan, and I am close to graduation. Should they arrest me after that time, I should be able to say that should they file claims against LimeWire, also to file claims against all Internet companies, and finally get around to asking them to sue Microsoft the Invincible :D thanks for the tip
