I moved your thread here where it's more appropriate. Have a look at the top of this forum section (BearShare > Open Discussion) for the Sticky by AaronWalkhouse & I think you'll find some interesting answers. ;) :)

I couldn't answer about the keys. But what problem are you having with the older version? Aaron Walkhouse might be able to advise about the keys.

Same thing happened to me.... I have the beta now with bearstart and have noticed no real difference rather than it doesn't slow my computer down as much, and it doesn't try to update itself.

Peerless December 30th, 2006 07:02 AM

no difference eh?

take the time to go into the configuration and force UP status...mwahahahahaha

canadaXD December 31st, 2006 12:34 AM

I don't get it

Lord of the Rings December 31st, 2006 12:58 AM

ie: make sure you have made exceptions in your firewalls for BearShare, & if you use a NAT modem/router to open a port for it. And configure BearShare's settings for best performance. If possible set it to be UltraPeer status ... as suggested by Peerless ... force it.

bear share rip off

I just got done talking to a bearshare rep. and she said because of the court ruling our subs got tossed. now they want 7.95 a month for a sub I allready paid for. well I ask what about my money I spent? they basically told me email pro and they will answer. but they do not. I am planning on persuing an action suit. I am very serious because I hate to be ripped off. even though it was not that much money but if you add all of us up that is.

Just curious but what were you using BearShare for.

Hopefully it wasn't for downloading copyrighted files because if it was and you go into a Court room you will most likely be the one handing out the $$$$$$$$$$$$ :bangh: :wasntme: :laugh_2:

do you recal/

do you recal when the riaa tried to stop it origonally? they could not. it was yours and what you did with it was up to you. and this included sharing.
it was not mentioned in the digital mellenium act do you remember? and what do you think I was using it for? just like tens of millions of users alike I used it for the same thing! we all paid for a service that has just become 'illeagel' for now. its like once it was illeagel to possess and use alcohol but I don't think it is anymore is it? so did this give bearshare the right to provide an avenue to allow the sale of a service that facilitated the sharing of copyright maetrial? is there a difference in what I was doing?

"subs" :confused: Translation please!

Y'know, I keep hearing about those guys ignoring emails about Pro and people
needing real support. Can anybody report one instance in which these
iMesh guys actually did do something right for a dissatisfied user? I
already know that the tests we (the original BearShare gang) tried all came up
with the same result: we were all completely ignored. Not one reply so far
over the past nine months and the so-called "online" support appeared to be a
bot with only one thing on it's mind: rental payments for low-rez and DRM
polluted .WMA files! You think they could afford more real people since the
RIAA was so willing to give them thirty million bucks to launder as a bogus
buyout and "settlement" when Free Peers was "sued" last year. :p

they are avoiding us. but I am gonna be heard. the water is turning brown so I am getting out of the pool. I'll watch from the sun chair. there is alot of money to be had or "hid" from the users that paid and got the plug ripped from computers. it is our legal right to be refunded even if it is on a pro-rata bassis. but they wont even respond or post what they intend to do. even if I do not get my refund I will persue it with the federal attorney general to see to it that that money be rendered. I will not sit back and let them keep my money. I guess it is just the principal. I don't need the money or even care about it .but they are no t gonna keep it I will see to it.

What about Paypal???

I know me personally I paid with paypal maybe others did too??? I know I started a dispute in paypal but paypal closed it because it was an electronically sent item so they wouldn't do anything. I'm wondering if enough people told paypal and started disputes would they listen. If you paid by credit card you should be able to do a chargeback. Last time I bought bearshare it said one time fee then I reformated a few times and then it said I was givin a key 3 times so I had to purchase again. So I did and now they won't answer e-mails or calls about getting a new key. I'm just wondering though if enough people talked with paypal maybe they'd do somthing.

JTR April 11th, 2007 07:48 PM

I reformatted last weekend, and couldn't get a new key either. No response to e-mail either. On a lark, I just started Bearshare today and did another key request - the key was in my inbox in minutes! Happy, happy, joy, joy

So I guess what I'm saying is try again.
