Men, Bearshare has been bought by iMesh Inc., so don't expect things going that well, have u tried downloading the older version and starting it with BearStarter, those links are lying in the bearshare forum, but i don't know where they are, search for them, and see if it makes any difference

heyheyheyhello March 23rd, 2007 09:58 PM

thanks, i'll try that

heyheyheyhello March 23rd, 2007 10:06 PM

i DL'd the start up, and let leaved it open, and than i installed bearshare 525 lite, and it worked, and the hting is that sometimes, i get that message, that bearshare has encountered a error, so idk, if it'll stay working, THANKS

heyheyheyhello March 23rd, 2007 10:08 PM

do i need to use the start up program everytime i open bearshare ?

heyheyheyhello March 23rd, 2007 10:33 PM

Dl time really sux, im trying to DL something that has 250 + sources and at first i had 6 sources DL'ing from and now its its either waiting for a tranfer connection, or isnt DL'ing what going on.

and why would they ruin bearshare program who ever bought it. dam if money wasnt invented this woiuld be working its all about money! instead of giving a s**t about us using beashare. there probably messing with bearshare cause its the number 1 program to download from

BEARSHARE 4 LIFE !

there trying to kill it, trying to give the other downloading pragrams to have a chance to speed up with bearshare. or make bearshare the same speed as others. but unless its a bearshare program, it'll never compare with the actual bearshare program. what the heck are the bearshare company thinking now. downloading sux now with bearshare, and everyone knows in everything theres always one that is the best. and they know that and threre making it hard not to change to another program to download from......

heyheyheyhello March 23rd, 2007 11:49 PM

i keep getting a message "bearshare has encountered a problem and wil close. EVERYTIME i open it, or a few minutes after? after i installed the start up, and well before it did that too ? whats wrong with this crap

AaronWalkhouse March 24th, 2007 12:43 AM

Download this: http://downloads.technutopia.com/beardiag/BearDiag.exe

Run it, put the resulting report in a zip file and post it as an attachment.

heyheyheyhello March 24th, 2007 02:14 AM

nope i ran the prgam, and restarted and now it doesnt open, but it said y get 5.0.2 beta, but where, and will it work as fast, and efficient as the ones i had before?

heyheyheyhello March 24th, 2007 02:19 AM

whoops it said BearShare 5.1.0 Beta bit i just tried to download it and it keeps trying to download the new bearshare 6 why can't i download the earlier versions any more...well i did on one place but that was it, bearshare lite 5.2.5 or something whats happing is it my computer...im running windows xp sp2 i have lots of disk free ruing 2 hdd one with 40 gb, and one with 20 gb and running on 998 megahertz and 256 memory, and the bearshae program is supposed to be compatible with this. and i even tried to go to properties, and change to a earlier version in capability tab, and still nohting i ran bearshare start up, and i also tried the link you gave me above, and now nothing works. dammit does anyone have bearshare working like new?

AaronWalkhouse March 24th, 2007 04:25 AM

Did you try to download 5.1.0b25? Go here for download links that work:
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=53386

heyheyheyhello March 24th, 2007 12:00 PM

yes i downloaded it, and what i just saw happen and realized, is that the ultra peers (2 of them that connect automaticaly) disconnect, and tries to establish 2 other ones, and than keeps doing that till a message pops up, and than says "bearshare has encountered a problem and has to close" and when it searches a file, the percent meter, starts at 0% and around 10% done search, it pauses, i dont know why, it pauses and than starts searching again, it does that till it reaches 100%. and i checked every program, to allow everything to do with bearshare and still i have this problem., i cant install limewire either. i figured maybe its just bearshare, but when i installed limewire after uninstalling bearshare, it wouldnt even open, some thing about connection? i dont know. i didnt try to download any other software to download files from, but i really need some advice on if its my connection or is it the program. or what ? and ive downloaded 3 things on here the beta version that was a link on here, and also, the start up for the beta, and something called bearshare daig. or w/e none of them worked, well the program works for like 5-8 minutes and closes. i had that trouble before i just reinstalled it and it worked again, but i've uninstaled it too many times, and nothing, just opens for a few minutes and closes down. its giving me head aches (honestly) and i dont know waht else to say about whats happening. oh maybe it could be windows xp sp2, maybe i have to reinstall windows? thats an idea, but i dont have the disc anymore. and i know this is bearshare's place to talk about bearshare, but how does www.torents.com work? i know p2p, but what do i have to install? i really need something that will work, and download files from, and if not bearshare what else can i download to do this? cause seems like no one knows and its really frustrating and im fed up with looking for whats wrong with any downloading file program.

Dark Guy March 24th, 2007 02:37 PM

It seems you have a virus, make sure you scan all hd's 3 or 4 times, for both foes (virus & malware), and reinstalling everything up again, and Limewire won't open cuz a firewall it's blocking a basic neec when it starts up, you need to allow limewire.exe to connect to the internet for opening it up

heyheyheyhello March 24th, 2007 09:48 PM

i have my original windows firewall off, and my firewall allowing, and also off .....i thought i specified that earlier, that all programs were allowing it. and i have done full hdd scans 7 times since. and also used spybot search and distroy and another spyware prgram, and removed all, and theres nothing thats it finds anymore, and thats like 3-4 dayes ago. so im pretty sure thats not it...

heyheyheyhello March 24th, 2007 09:57 PM

the next post will read the bearshare diag thing

heyheyheyhello March 24th, 2007 10:07 PM

BEARDIAG ISSUES - brief summary: (Extracted on 2005/07/02 02:09:10)

Physical Memory size of 254.4Mb may be an issue.
Ahead Nero updater found - not necessary. Use the inbuilt Microsoft program MSCONFIG to disable from the startup list
Warning: Possible disk errors present. See How to check your disk drive for errors - do not skip this step.
System drive C: is not configured for NTFS file system.
BearShare currently shows port xxxx for TCP and port 0 for UDP that need to match with your firewall/router configuration
BearShare "UDP port" setting is 0 - this usually indicates firewall problems with UDP traffic.
BearShare setup is configured for 'Automatically remove completed downloads' setting = 'YES' - this can cause errors
You are behind a NAT firewall and/or router. They need to be correctly configured to allow BearShare to access the Internet.
This is a common cause of problems with BearShare - it can't communicate.
Check your firewall allows BearShare to communicate on TCP port xxxx and UDP port xxxx
If your connection is via a router, make sure it can forward BearShare traffic to a static IP address on your computer
Refer to the following guidelines to correctly configure your firewall and router for use:
 - www.bearshare.com/help/firewalls/index.htm - the Firewall FAQ at the official BearShare Help site,
 - http://www.portforward.com/english/a...BearSindex.htm - the definitive guide to port forwarding and setting up a static IP address.
(Hint: use static IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, TCP Port xxxx, and UDP port xxxx).
FixLSP.BAT was generated on the desktop and may need to be run (subject to advice) to rectify LSP chain issues.

Do I Have Any Hope Of Fixing Bearshare ????

heyheyheyhello March 24th, 2007 11:22 PM

i know some terminology for computers but please name what to do in steps. 1.2.3. etc and where to go like START-RUN- and enter so fourth, please and thank you in advance

AaronWalkhouse March 25th, 2007 08:17 PM

There's a batch file on your desktop called FixLSP.BAT. Double-click on that.

Uninstall Spyware Doctor, Windows Defender, new dot net and iolo AntiVirus.
If any of these don't have their own uninstall links in the Start menus the
Add/Remove Programs tool in the Control Panel might have them.

After you do these things reboot and try BearShare again.

heyheyheyhello April 17th, 2007 08:54 PM

Geez !

ok, Aaron, i used ur advice and used the lps fix thing, and i have to use it everytime i start bearshare lite 5.2.0 and now the thing is that i download something and when it is DL'ing it usually says like something that takes like 2 hours to DL, and when its done, it shows how long it took to DL and it says it DL'ed in like 20hours, and thats not the problem, but it used to say like lets say 15 hours to DL a movie, and gradually starts the countdown, as it DL's but NOW when it says 15 hours, it takes like 15 hours to DL, and its REALLY SLOW ~!~ like something that used to take 1 hour takes like 7-10 hours now ~!~ and i have uploads off, so im not sharing cause i find that it DL's s a bit slower when i upload...and seems like its my computer but i really dont think so, cause if the internet browser i have loads really fast, it isnt my computer or interent connection.

my question is why am i DL'ing as if i had a 56k-dial-up-modem, and i have a high-speed-dsl? and how do i speed up my DL's?

(hopefully u understand what i wrote....DL=download)

:yikes: :bangh:   :wasntme:

heyheyheyhello April 18th, 2007 02:14 AM

(in the connection type in the setup menu in BS, i have it on DSL HIGH SPEED setting, its LIKE i had a 56-k-modem- cause it DL's like my DSL was one SLOW ~!~)

AaronWalkhouse April 18th, 2007 11:22 AM

If you have no Advanced Limits turned on in the Connections setup and the slider
on the bar graph is all the way to the right, maybe your ISP is setting the speed.

If you have to use FixLSP a lot, perhaps you should post another BearDiag report.

heyheyheyhello April 18th, 2007 10:07 PM

i have comando firewall, and AVG, thats all thats installed, and i allowed all bearshare pop ups, and clicked on remember, so it wont ask if bearshare is allowed to connect. and i couldnt find where to go to see if the ports for bearshare are allowed. and i couldnt connect to internet and asked and did what someone said to make a proxy connection, and i must of been taken those stupid pills, and than now theres a connection that doesnt work, but always shows an icon, with a triangle with a esclamtion mark in it in lower tray. could that be why too. but it didnt slow down my connection before so im 98% sure it isnt that. (and im not asking to fix that but hey any advice, but thats not important unless it is) and well im really needing the solution, cause i honestly need bearshare back to normal. well now to download 730mb, movie that has over 100 sources takes either close to half a day which is like around 12 hours to like 2 days now, or more! and used to be in the range of 1 hour to about 2 hours more or less (not much more or less but around that...:shoot:

BEARDIAG ISSUES - brief summary: (Extracted on 2007/04/19 02:41:47)

Physical Memory size of 254.4Mb may be an issue.
Ahead Nero updater found - not necessary. Use the inbuilt Microsoft program MSCONFIG to disable from the startup list
System drive C: is not configured for NTFS file system.
BearShare currently shows port 6348 for TCP and port 0 for UDP that need to match with your firewall/router configuration
Check your firewall allows BearShare to communicate on TCP port 6348 and UDP port 6348
If your connection is via a router, make sure it can forward BearShare traffic to a static IP address on your computer
Refer to the following guidelines to correctly configure your firewall and router for use:
 - www.bearshare.com/help/firewalls/index.htm - the Firewall FAQ at the official BearShare Help site,
 - www.portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/BearS/BearSindex.htm - the definitive guide to port forwarding and setting up a static IP address.
(Hint: use static IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, TCP Port xxxx, and UDP port xxxx).

heyheyheyhello April 18th, 2007 10:09 PM

but i can connect now that i know, my internet browser works, fast, but slows when bearshare is running cause its downloading, and i know thats why, and thats not a problem, and bearshare connects but is really slow ~!~

AaronWalkhouse April 23rd, 2007 12:47 AM

Did we deal with the modem or router yet?
What's the brand name and model number?

heyheyheyhello July 3rd, 2007 03:15 PM

been awhile . i havent been here in a while im srry i didnt update/or respond but i am now. bearshare is working good now. i get a weird box saying "update bearshare" but i close the box by pressing the "X" close botton and it closes bearshare. so i have to restart bearshare than it works. not really a big problem. but other than that ive noticed this for awhile. how come i search for a file and i always get same exact file size and name in search results. like 10-20 or even more that cant be downloaded. but not because of no sources (some have lots) but its from lime wire. and sometimes it says "-1" sources. is there a way to block lime wire files from being found in searches or are all downloading programs of this network automatically shown when searched?

(nothing of the high priority type question just something thats a hassle to find the right file im looking for. and bitzi ticket wont open my default web browser now either? just started doing that like 2-3 weeks ago?)

NO RUSH just came on so i wouldnt seem like i got help and left never to be seen again like taking advantage of people that help and who are greatly appreciated! thanks to u all, bearshare has on-going connection now (again)and has good fast downloads now (again)

How to spot and avoid fake search results.

In the browser's setup you'll find a control to set it as the default broweser again.
